Q: What is the difference between this unit and the Hisense U8H?
A: The Brightness is rated for 1500 Nits on the U8K. The U8H is sub-1000 Nits. That's the biggest difference. And much better speakers on the U8K, if that matters to you.
Q: when it indicates Google tv, what does that mean?
A: It’s more integrated to the google ecosystem….you can setup the tv easier with a google account. You are in no way whatsoever forced to have it or forced to have said account to get the tv up and running, it just makes it more convenient. Another way it is integrated with google is the voice command.
A: I have no problem in getting local OTA channel in LA area. In fact, I get more channels than I had with my old LG TV.
A: I am unable to answer the 1st question but yes unfortunately this tv does have dirty screen effect. It has definite vertical bands that can be seen in dark scenes.
A: As far as communication with other equipment, i found if you turn off "cec" on the other devices, it should alleviate your issue. Good luck. This info is from my Denon AVR: CEC (Consumer Electronics Control) also called HDMI Control, is a feature on most AVRs that allows for one button control of supported system functions. This feature may also be available on other CEC supported devices such as TVs or projectors. CEC can control power on/off functions, volume control and source switching by sending a command over the connected HDMI cables.
Q: Is this the best tv for bright rooms?
A: I couldn't say "best" but this TV has made a huge difference over my previous one in the brightness category. I had trouble seeing just about anything in midday in my apartment, but the new Hisense makes that problem a minor one-- if a problem at all.
Q: What is the distance measured from the bottom vesa mounting location to the bottom edge of the tv?
A: 8 1/2 keep in mind when choosing mount tv has a sub woofer in the middle of the back .
Q: Can this unit be wall mounted?
A: Yes as long as it matches the vesa measurements and is able to support the weight.

Unlike TVs that chase brightness and dimming zones, this approach delivers likelike color so everything you watch is more true to life. Every detail shines through thanks to greater color purity, True 100% BT.2020 coverage*, and Pantone Validated color accuracy. This innovative technology reduces blue light exposure by up to 50%* while also delivering greater energy efficiency without compromising performance. The Hi-View AI Engine RGB automatically optimizes every frame which means you don't have to adjust settings. The Ultra-Low Reflection Obsidian Panel keeps deep blacks and vivid highlights clear in any lighting, while a Native 180Hz Refresh Rate ensures smooth, blur-free motion for sports and gaming.
