Nick, Dale, and Kurt are all years into their careers and have found themselves in an all-too-common situation. They hate their superiors. Nick (Jason Bateman) works for someone intent on keeping him under his boot till one of them dies or ruining his career should he ever decide to quit. Kurt (Jason Sudeikis), after his longtime boss, a man he genuinely liked and respected, dies, is working for his boss’s unqualified, obnoxious, drug-addicted son (Colin Farrell). Dale (Charlie Day) is a dental hygienist whose boss (Jennifer Anniston) is sexually harassing him in addition to molesting her anesthetized patients. Drowning their sorrows, they all ruminate on the idea of how much better their lives would be if their bosses were dead. Next thing they know, they’re devising a master plan with the help of a “murder consultant” (Jamie Foxx) whose real first name is barely mentioned and whose nickname is an expletive. Saying anymore about the story would give away too much. While the top-tier talent is relegated to the antagonists, Bateman, Farrell, and Sudeikis bring the most to the film, comedically. And the writers, one of whom has a near-forgettable role as a co-worker of Bateman’s character, should be congratulated. This is easily the best comedy of the summer. (8.2/10)

Why did't this work with the great cast?

I was really excited about seeing this movie. The cast looked solid and the trailer was pretty hilarious. Unfortunately, it fell very short of expectations though I can't really understand why. All of the right pieces were there but I just didn't find it very funny. The things that did work for me were Jennifer Aniston and Colin Farrell who played outside of their usual roles with Aniston as the lustful boss of Charlie Day's character, Dale, and Farrell as the balding, cocaine-addicted boss of Jason Sudeikis. It was great to see them get out of their comfort zone and do something different, which they both succeed in doing. Maybe I am being a little too harsh on the movie and need to give it another shot. In the meantime, I'll have to say "Pass on this one".

For Nick (Jason Bateman), Kurt (Jason Sudeikis) and Dale (Charlie Day), the only thing that would make the daily grind more tolerable would be to grind their intolerable bosses (Kevin Spacey, Colin Farrell, Jennifer Aniston) into dust. Quitting is not an option, so, with the benefit of a few-too-many drinks and some dubious advice from a hustling ex-con (Jamie Foxx), the three friends devise a convoluted and seemingly foolproof plan to rid themselves of their respective employers...permanently. There's only one problem: even the best laid plans are only as foolproof as the brains behind them. Horrible Bosses Videos Behind-the-Scenes Footage Part 2

Based on most of this movie's other reviews, I must be one of the few people around who didn't really care for it. I loved Kevin Spacey (always do!) and if the film had focused solely on him and Jason Bateman I probably would have enjoyed it more. I usually like Jennifer Aniston, but I couldn't stand her character in this. I don't care for Colin Farrell, so that was another strike against it in my book. If you want to see a really great movie (also with Kevin Spacey) about a truly horrible boss, then check out Swimming with Sharks. It's far superior and much funnier, at least to me. I won't be checking out the sequel to this one...

Lots of twists and turns in this surprising comedy. At first you'll think you know what's going to happen -- but wait, and watch the movie to the very end, including the credits. Several in this extraordinary cast (perhaps especially Jennifer Aniston) step outside their "comfort zone" and display aspects of their personalities and acting skills that may surprise you. I find it difficult to impossible to say which actor is "best" only because so many of them are extremely good.

Okay, I'm not one to ordinarily write reviews, but I just watched this movie and my wife and I are still laughing. They cast is ridiculous and the amount of ad libbing is insane. It is truly "laugh out loud funny." But you have to pay atention as the actors banter off each other or you can easily miss a funny line while laughing at the previous one. Super smart and fast. I have no idea why this did not do better in the theaters...

Movie had its moments. When I saw it, I didn't realize the woman was Jennifer Aniston. She's wearing more makeup than normal I think. She plays a dentist which is a departure from her other roles. The cast is funny and the plot is good. It's more a rental than a purchase. I don't even know why I bought the DVD!
