Q: Does the unit have a single 16 GB stick or two 8 GB installed?
A: Currently, there is 1-16 GB DDR4-2666 SDRAM gigabyte RAM stick installed. There are 2 slots. It can be upgraded to a total of 32 gigabytes. So, if you wanted you can put in another 16 gigabyte RAM stick.
Q: Can a HDD be added to this computer? It only shows that it comes with a 256 SSD
A: I added a 1tb drive with some difficulity. Please read my review for more details.
Q: Can this computer operate with 2 monitors? If so, how is this accomplished?
A: This machine comes with 2 video outputs - one HDMI and one VGA. It also has an expansion slot for 1 video board. If you have two HDMI monitors you would need to either add a expansion card, or get a VGA to HDMI converter for the built in output. Either way - two monitors. In actuality, if you added the expansion video card, I think you could run 3 monitors with this machine.
A: External speakers are required to have sound.
A: I checked with HP Support, and they confirmed on their end that the 400w Power Supply part number: L04618-800 is compatible with the ENVY TE01-0034. This replaces the 180W that comes with the TE01-0034. Order from HP directly. You could find and install a nvidia gtx 960 (uses 140W) with a Recommended Total PC System Power of 400W. This would work.
Q: Which memory cards does the card reader accept? It's not shown in the specs.
A: The HP TE01-0034 desktop has a 1 in 3 media card reader, which supports SD, SDHC and SDXC memory cards.
A: You would need to install a discrete graphics card to be able to handle a 4K monitor. You might want to look at the Omen desktops that have a discrete graphics card installed already. The recommendation is minimum Nvidia GTX 1070. Anything higher like 1080, 2070 or 2080 GeForce graphics cards can handle 4K resolutions with no problems. For further assistance, I would recommend reaching out to a blue shirt in the computer department.
A: They are mounting screws for a hard drive.
