Pros and a few cons
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this because I didn’t always want to use my phone as an alarm clock, and my old standby broke after many years. What I like about this: unobtrusive, attractive grey color with a cloth front looks good in my bedroom, and is nicer than a black plastic box; it’s got a small enough footprint that I can have other things on the stand I put it on; I can wake to a Bluetooth song in my library because it can be paired to it; the sound of the alarm has options, and they aren’t an obnoxious buzzer (I like the “chime” sounding option. It’s gentle and one can adjust the volume of the alarm or the music one wakes to. Can also wake to radio, yet I’ve not used that function). The thing I really like is that the display has 3 brightness options AND one can turn it all the way off for sleeping. This is important to me. What I wasn’t so fond of: the method for setting one of 2 possible alarms, with lots of options, is kind of hard to understand at first. I didn’t wake up one day because I had inadvertently chosen the wrong “day amount” option (2 day, 5 day, or 7 day). The options, once one figures it all out, are kind of cool, yet not so clear, to begin with anyway. Still, it’s very versatile & I am happy with the purchase.

Better than expected!
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. We have been long-time iHome clock radio users. These days, it seems to be harder and harder to find a clock radio that also offers a USB port to connect/charge an electronic device in addition to having the option of connecting the device via BlueTooth. This iHome device is one of the few that does all of that--and it does it very well. We were worried about the vertical size and "cloth covering" of the clock, but we think it looks much, much better in person than it looks in photos (although the photos are accurate). The footprint is fairly small and it's vertical height is not obnoxious at all. In so many ways, we feel like we got something much better than we imagined with this purchase.

Alarm clock plus a few features
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The features of this alarm clock radio/Bluetooth are attractive enhancements. Setting radio station presets was a little confusing to me but that is my fault not the radios. In the area I am working there were several stations that it picked up, I was pleased with the reception. If you need a loud alarm to wake up to; this alarm tone could have been designed to be louder. The slight volume level concerned me but I have heard the alarm every morning though and I am confident in it now. The alarm is pleasant to wake to, I like an alarm that ascends in volume. This doesn't have that feature but I am glad the alarm is not abusive to my slumbering senses in my waking to the alarm. Or, you can wake to music by setting the alarm to your device and play through the Bluetooth. The sound quality is much better than the phone speaker unless you have the Motorola with the speaker pack that attaches to it. The only con I can point out was the price, it was marked down for the holidays but still over $50. I could have paid $20 or $10 for a truly basic alarm clock but I chose to purchase this model due to the ability to charge my device with the usb connection.

Decent, but don't be fooled
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The clock works great. Speakers are surprisingly really clear, but not too bassy as another reviewer wrote. Two alarms are nice and it looks great. Don't be fooled by the advertised "voice commands." How it works is that you connect it to your iPhone through bluetooth and hold down a button on the clock that activates Siri for you (a remote home button basically). You can then tell the weak mic on the clock what to do like "play music." Except it doesn't work half the time and what's the point of having voice commands if you have to walk up to the clock and push a button first? Boooo. But that's not why I bought it, so. Still decent.

a little complicated for an alarm clock
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is a full featured alarm clock which means it can be complicated to program. I keep the instruction manual right next to it. The PM, alarm 1, and alarm 2 indicator lights are not labeled except in the manual so you don't know what they are telling you. A light next to the time might mean your alarm is set, or it thinks it is PM. Two lights means either both alarms are set or one alarm is set and it is PM. Unnecessarily confusing.

Bright display even on low
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This clock radio has the Bluetooth connectivity and alarms and stuff you want on a clock radio. The AM/FM works well too. It’s just the display that is too bright. Even on the lowest setting it lights up my bedroom. I have finally turned it away from facing me at night and it illuminates my way to the bathroom at night. I’m thinking of a blue or red theatrical gel to cover the display so I can have it face me and not keep me awake at night. I have tried all the settings and it is easy to change from insanely bright to bright enough to keep you up at night. wish they would have had a couple of more notches down or made the display a color instead of cool white. OTher than this it works well.

Excellent value!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. My new iHome clock radio is a great addition to my kitchen. It is compact and stylish, with excellent sound quality and user-friendly features. In two other rooms I use much more sophisticated (and pricey) Wave music systems by Bose, but I didn't want to move either of them to kitchen or pop another $500 for a third unit. At a fraction of the price, I have just what the kitchen needed. Thank you, Best Buy!

nice small external speaker/radio
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I wanted a small external speaker set for using my iPhone in a reading nook we put together. It uses bluetooth to connect to the speaker and has a port for plugging in the cable to charge your iPhone (or iPad). I would have preferred the cable to transmit sound too, but since i can charge while playing, it's not a deal breaker. There's no built-in stand for the iPhone, so you just have to lay it on the table next to the speaker. The FM radio plays well, and I like the effect of the clock light shining through the speaker cloth cover. I do recommend this with the caveat about needing to use bluetooth for speaker connection, and I like the small footprint it has. Great for listening to music when reading in a chair next to it.

Q: QuestionDoes it always have to be plugged in to work? It comes with batteries as if it’ll work without the plug.
Asked by HeyGirl.
- A:Answer The alarm apparently does not require it to be plugged in, as I can’t get it to stop going off even though I unplugged it last night. I wouldn’t rely on the alarm clock functioning without it being plugged in, but in my case I am trying to figure out how to stop it from going off once every hour. Awesome little gadget, but it’s very hard to find trouble shooting answers for specific issues for it.

Q: QuestionHow can I tune FM in 0.1 graduations. Mine only tunes in 0.2 graduations, i.e. 89.1, 89.3, 89.5 and so on.
Asked by Sparky.
- A:Answer Radio stations end with an odd number frequency(in the US), so using .1 gradation would take longer to get where you need to go.

Q: QuestionMy radio is losing time, is now three minutes behind the correct time. How can I correct this?
Asked by nora.
- A:Answer The unit may need to be reset. To do so, unplug the unit from power source and remove the backup batteries. Let unit stand for 2 minutes. Re-install backup batteries and connect unit to power source. You will need to reset the clock, radio, and any other settings. If the problem persists please visit ihome.com/support
