Title: Improve your TV’s audio experience!
Title: Improve your TV’s audio experience!
Posted .Pros mentioned:Ease of use, Price, Set upCons mentioned:HdmiBottom line: If you need to give your TV’s audio a boost and space is an issue, the Insignia 2.0-Channel Mini Soundbar is for you. Pros: compact size, easy to use, decent sound for its size and price Cons: no HDMI input, does not include optical audio cable, always-on status light, button placement Review: The Insignia 2.0-Channel Mini Soundbar is the perfect size to boost your audio experience if space is an issue. At 2.4” high and 15.8” wide, you’ll have no problem placing this under a small TV (it fits perfectly under my 24” monitor). Setup is pretty straightforward. The soundbar has two physical inputs: RCA and optical, although inside the box you’ll only find a RCA cable (along with a 3.5mm RCA adapter). Connect the cables, plug it in, and you should be hearing audio in a matter of minutes. Switching inputs is easy using either a button on the soundbar or the remote. A status light on the center of the bar indicates which input is currently selected (e.g., green for RCA, pink for optical, blue for Bluetooth, the latter which is easy to pair). The remote also allows you to select from three listening modes: standard, theatre, and news, the latter which boosts dialogue and voices. I’ve owned several home theatre systems including a couple of mid to high-end 2.1 soundbar systems, and the mini soundbar has surprisingly good audio for its size and price. There’s decent separation of the 2 channels at an appropriate listening distance, and it does a pretty good job filling a small room with sound (definitely use theatre mode over standard). Keep in mind, though, that this soundbar can’t - and isn’t designed - to replace a bigger system. Highs and lows, especially when listening to music, don’t come across very well, so you end up with that muddled midrange listening experience common on budget systems. Still, it’s a huge improvement over built-in TV speakers. Unfortunately, since it’s a budget soundbar, there is no HDMI ARC, so you’ll have to use the included RCA cables or, preferably, pick up a digital optical cable, although the fact that one isn’t included is somewhat frustrating. Last, I have two issues with the design. First, which is one of my pet peeves with soundbars, is the always-on status light. I find a big glowing dot on a soundbar to be distracting in a darkened room, and there’s no way to dim or turn off the light on this unit. Second, the onboard buttons are on the right side of the soundbar, which makes them less useful, since I’m using the bar on a desk.

A nice revision to an already good product.

Posted .Pros mentioned:Ease of use, Price, Sound qualityI was in need of an upgrade for my computers sound system. And had been searching for something comparable to the Sound bar mini by insignia and lo and behold recently Insignia released an updated model. I am a fan of Insignia brand audio and video equipment. I have soundbars, televisions, and headphones. While some of the video offerings have been hit and miss I have yet to run into any negative experiences with the audio equipment I have from them. So with that out of the way lets go ahead and start this review. ::General Impressions:: Upon opening the box you will find the soundbar along with the basic audio connections. It has a single optical port and an RCA connection. You will also find a USB port which was not there in the first generation model. The following is included remote, batteries, RCA to 3.5mm jack. This is not one of the more expensive models on the market it will play your audio and it will sound much better than what most television sets are capable of putting out. And I am more than okay with that so far so good. On to the next part of the review. ::Pros & Cons:: Pros: - Bigger than the previous gen - Much easier to wall mount or mount to a bracket - Better sound quality in comparison to the previous gen - Better remote control - Controls are on the right side of the unit and are easy to press Cons: - Optical cable not included ::General thoughts:: As I stated earlier having owned the previous gen sound bar It has grown on me. But I am really liking this newer model. It is easier to use because on the first gen the controls were very mushy and not clicky enough if that makes any sense and they were mounted on the top of the sound bar. They were not all that easy to press if you could not locate your remote. I like how it is much easier to mount the sound bar to the wall or bracket under the television. In my case I prefer to use it for my PC. It is currently hooked up to my PC and Nintendo Switch. The sound is great for my needs it has a richer sound and clarity thanks to the larger profile of the soundbar. Bluetooth clarity is just as good and I am happy with that as well. It is awesome for listening to music while I am doing some cleaning in my bedroom. ::TL:DR:: If you are in search of a soundbar that does not take up a whole lot of room, is easy to use, and mount and plays bluetooth audio then give this soundbar a shot. It isn't uber expensive and will do what all the others can do at a fraction of the cost. Almost forgot to mention don't forget to change the audio settings to PCM if you are using the optical connection. Otherwise you won't hear anything or it will sound choppy.

Posted .Pros mentioned:Size, Sound qualityCons mentioned:Bass, Connection, Remote controlI would recommend this to a friendI'd been looking for a small sound bar for my bedroom TV for some time, I didn't want to spend too much and I wasn't impressed by other compact sound bars I had looked at in the past. I have a 43' TV in my bedroom and the built in speakers (although decent) aren't very great for watching movies or playing video games. This compact sound bar sounds better than the speakers in my tv , and when in "theater mode" I can hear voices more clearly when other sound effects such as blasts or music is going on in the back ground. My TV speakers tend to drown out voices when music or explosions are happening on movies and shows. Sound quality is impressive considering it's size. Bass is present, not very punchy like you would get from a dedicated subwoofer, but it is definitely better than built in TV speakers. The speaker supports 2.0 stereo sound, making movie watching and music listening pleasant. My only complaints about it are that it does not come with an optical cable, and there is no way to know what your volume is set at. Nit picking, but I like to see some sort of visual gauge for volume when raising or lowering. The speaker has a status light that changes color to let you know what input you are using, it is handy so you're not completely blind at what input your speaker is connected to. It does come with an auxiliary cable that splits into stereo RCA cables if your TV supports them, but for best audio quality I would recommend an optical cable. My only other complaint about this sounder is that the included remote feels very cheap and has basic controls. You get three sound modes, "theater", "news" and "standard" and there is no way to control bass or treble. Theater mode is what I leave mine set to at all times as I find it to be the most pleasant sounding. On the plus side, It stays put in the mode you choose after you turn it off and power it back on later. Overall - I am pretty pleased with this soundbar but I would only recommend it to you if you want a small sound bar for your bed room or other small area. I'd especially recommend this for a gaming monitor, as it is compact and would sit well right under a monitor for gaming. Gaming monitors tend to have the worst speakers ever. If you're looking for a sound bar for your living / theater room for a theater like experience, look for something bigger with a subwoofer. Pros- Compact, easy to connect, very good sound quality for its size, Aux, USB, Optical and RCA connection options. Cons- No digital display for volume or input info, no optical cable in the box.

Good Sound for a Compact Soundbar
Good Sound for a Compact Soundbar
Posted .Pros mentioned:Ease of use, Price, Set upI would recommend this to a friendFor the size that this soundbar is, it performs quite well. This is perfect for use with my desktop computer as it fits right below my monitor and doesn't take up too much space. Connecting the wires was super simple, just plug them in and it's good to go. Bluetooth works great as well and is easy to set up. The only real negative I can think of is I wish it had a little more bass. For the price point it's not a bad option, but I feel it would be better suited around the $50-$60 mark. Overall I am quite pleased with its performance and would definitely recommend this product if you are looking for a compact soundbar!

Posted .Pros mentioned:Ease of use, Set up, SizeCons mentioned:Hdmi, Remote controlNo, I would not recommend this to a friendMini sound bar is a great name for it because it fits nicely anywhere - especially because it can easily be mounted or placed on the shelf. We tried it with our medium sized TV and it was ok. Son tried it with his 32" tv and it was better - probably the size of the room and acoustics. The set up was simple but does not come with HDMI cable. It has 3 different sound modes and depending on what you are watching it is simple to switch to find out the best one. We made the mistake of turning up the tv volume with the sound bar and it didn't work out well LOL We have enjoyed the Bluetooth capability to stream music from my sons playlist. The remote is small/tiny and we keep losing it, going to call cable company to see if we can program it into our big remote. Low end, basic product that should sell for around $40, IMO not worth much more than that.
