Being from the southern part of Fl I thought I’d seen some wild storms but they certainly do NOT compare with the lightning storms here in the central part of the state. There used to be two satellite dishes about 10 feet almost directly in front of my apt which weren’t even being used any longer. I of course had my TV, DVR, BLU-RAY all plugged into a surge protector from a large box retail store. During one of our wild lightning storms (no rain) just thunder (wall shaking thunder) & scary loud lightning which was visible through the closed blinds. Apparently EVERYTHING attached to my Tv got Zapped INCLUDING ALL THE PORTS, Except One, DVR, BLU-RAY & FOUR PORTS ZAPPED! Didn’t realize till the next day when I went to watch Tv in Living Rm & NOTHING!!
Cable guy explained how everything was destroyed & I told him about the storm & he said the dish definitely could have acted like a lightning rod if not secured plus, the quality of the surge protector wasn’t that great. I happened to already have a new one from B.B. in the bedroom still in the box as I had recently moved & was still moving things around & he explained that I need to have the B.B. KIND WITH MY MORE IMPORTANT ITEMS PLUGGED INTO THEM!! Since then we Have had at least one or two more of those storms & there hasn’t been any issues. I look to Best Buy for All my electronic needs, even or maybe even, Especially!! a surge protector!! And Mathew, in Customer Service, is the most patient, knowledgeable, & kind young man who I can go in & ask just about ANY question to, & he will either know Immediately, or figure out HOW to find out that answer. Makes shopping there extra pleasant for sure!!
