Better then Flip 3 in more ways then one.

I've had the Flip 4 for about five months so far. Its like a night and day improvement over the older Flip 3 in just about everyway. The improvements are all small but it all adds up to a much better product. Everything from user controls to audio and battery life have improved. The older Flip 3 sounded a bit bass heavy, the Flip 4 has the same amount of bass but its tighter and more realistic sounding, the Flip 4 also much improved mids and highs. The Flip 3 also didn't have the fidelity that my Charge 3 has. When I'd use the Charge 3 with the Flip 3 via the JBL Connect feature the Flip 3 would always get drown out by the Charge 3. Also since I've upgraded my Charge 3 to Connect + is seems the Flip 4 has more pronounced response. The Flip 4 not only adds fidelity to the Charge 3 but the Charge 3 also compliments it by adding in more Bass. Its a nice combo to hear in person. On a side note I figured out how to get rid of the audio compression allot of people complain about when using the Connect + feature. The solution is to pair only one device with your phone when using Connect +. If your phone allows you to pair two devices at once you'll get a weird audio compression that ruins the highs and lows while adding in artifacts. So what I did to solve the issue was to turn off the audio and speaker phone function for either the Flip 4 or Charge 3 before deciding to use the Connect + feature. Having only one speaker connected to the phone greatly improves the audio quality. The battery life of the Flip 4 is also improved by 2 hours according to JBL, but in use I've been getting about 14 hours! The bass radiators are also more recessed into the speaker housing like they are on the Charge 3 this is good since the radiators are exposed (still looks cool when the speaker is in use), the buttons are easier to press and the back controls now have a nice bump which prevents the speaker from rolling around. The Flip 4 is also fully water proof, but on a side note all BT speakers sound horrible when they get wet, its just a nice level of protection to have, assuming you're not dropping the speaker into a deep body of water, otherwise you can kiss it good by as it'll sink! Overall I'd pick the Flip 4 over the Flip 3 without question. There's no reason to purchase the Flip 3 at this point.

Bose SL Mini sounds like a Toy against the JBL

Wow. JBL just made the best speaker (flip 3) in its category even better. I didn't think you could "up" the game of the Flip 3. However JBL just did that. For me the most important thing is always the Quality of the Sound. Owner of the JBL Flip 3 and Xtreme (The reference on the Market) I was gravitating around the BT Speakers area testing all of the usual suspects (Bose, Sony, Altec Lansing, Beats, UE Boom) Nothing Spectacular, even the new Bose 360 didn't really put a smile on my face. Then I saw that the Flip 4 just arrived. I put out the cash for it as I wanted to test it in my own terms. Went back home tested against my JBL Flip 3 and oh my..... the difference is clear. And I mean clear and crisp. My father in law left his Bose soundlink Mini 2 and was an oportunity to test them head to head. The Bose sounded like a kitchen radio compared to the JBL flip 4. The Clarity, Crispness, soundstage is on another level. Let alone the style (The bose looks like it was designed after and old CRT TV). The JBL just looks so tight and well made. It is Waterproof and gets up to 12 hours play time and you can use it anywhere you want it. Just simply the best speaker out there. I didn't believe Bose was not that good (You know, the Audiophile Cousin of the Family told me so) until I tested. Superbly done JBL, superbly done. PS: I just feel sorry for my Father in law when he hears the difference. Well I guess I will let him play with my JBL Flip 4!!! ;-)

BUY IT! AMAZING FULL SOUND FROM A LITTLE SPEAKER

I bought a wireless bluetooth speaker for outdoors and I was excited because it was shockproof, sandproof, waterproof, you name it. The sound was beyond awful. Bringing it back the customer service rep suggested one we were out of. Yet he said try the bose. I bought it and asked if we could test it. He pulled out his phone and said sure. The Bose was over the top bass heavy. The beats were great but the muddy sound left nothing for the vocals or mid range. Returning it, I went back to the floor and found these guys. One of the associates said the new ones are more than splash proof, that you can put these babies in the water and the sound was improved. There so new they didn't have a display but I picked one up and went back to customer service. After buying it the rep again let us use his phone and WOW!!!!! He was even blown away by how full and amazing the sound was. It sounded like one of the high end speakers out of the Magnolia store. Yet it's only $99. This is a no brainer for someone looking or high quality sound in a portable outdoor/indoor speaker! JBL made a fine product and I will be enjoying this for a long time to come! My wife has already taken it over so i'm thinking about buying another one for me. lol

    The perfect speaker

I CANNOT stress enough how amazing this speaker is! The sound quality is stunning. It is extremely loud. The bass is amazing and bass is something i really look for in a speaker. The fact it's waterproof ties the 5 stars in all together. Stays charged for a LONG time, and is easy to use at any occasion. Has a very good range length for bluetooth to work. I own a Beats Pill, and heard my friends speaker (the JBL flip 4) and was completely jealous! The sound beats A BEATS PILL which costs more than double the amount of money. Very happy with this purchase. I wish I could provide at least one con of this product so anyone reading this would know I was not hired to write this, but there is nothing bad about this speaker! I normally don't write reviews, but literally i was so happy with this that I wanted to share this with anyone interested in buying one. DONT HESITATE!! Amazing speaker!!

I purchased this product after inheriting a car without a working stereo. Rather than purchasing a new radio with Bluetooth, along with speakers and a Mic, I went this route and I'm glad I did. It's great four small groups. Other than in the car, I use it while listening to music in the home and shower, and I take it with me most places that I go. Sound quality is comparable to others in this price range, with better midrange and a higher clarity than the others that I heard. The competitors have slightly better bass, that's not to say that the bass is bad, it's just others make it more of a priority. I feel that the flip 4 has a much better all around sound, others aren't as clear. The Bluetooth range is pretty good as well.

I have literally tried dozens of portable Bluetooth speakers over the last few years and I always come back to the JBL Flip series. For the price, the sound just can’t be beat. EXCELLENT highs and stellar bass, especially in smaller spaces. Obviously different ears like different sounds so your mileage may vary. The Bose SoundLink II is comparable in sound but also much more fragile feeling, not as rugged. The newer Bose Revolve sounds decent but the highs are not as crisp as the Flip 4. If you don’t care much for higher frequencies and you’re more concerned about bass you may also want to check out the UE WonderBoom. But for the money, this is your best bet. Almost perfect for a small, portable wireless speaker.

I really expected JBL to have a really good quality and clarity of sound, but it’s not whatsoever. Bose definitely surpasses this speaker on clarity and crisp sound. JBL has just a slight bit more bass and can pair with more than one speaker which you’ll need to do if your looking for some good music. If you turn it up to almost full volume, about 2 clicks up on your cell phone it’s blows the speakers. Also, have to be extremely careful of the ends of the speaker as that’s where the subs are and you can really mess it up I’m sure. Overall, I’ve had speakers sound the same it even better that are half the price off amazon.
