Worth every penny
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is no ordinary microwave oven. With the convection baking it becomes a secondary oven during busy holiday times. With a clean and professional exterior that opens up to a spacious interior. Compared to my prior KitchenAid this unit is much quieter

Super appliance
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is a great appliance. Quiet in microwave mode. Convection mode is a little noisy but no more than any other convection oven. I had dismissed reviewers who complained that controls weren’t backlit or otherwise more visible in the dark, but turns out their complaints were legit. Doesn’t bother me much but I’ve found myself wishing I could see the controls better when the lights are off (pic I attached was taken in dark kitchen. Controls are completely dark but the flash highlighted them). I often use my under cabinet lighting at night but it doesn’t light up the front of the microwave. The door is huge and seems a bit cumbersome, but I knew that when I bought this. Just thought I’d mention these cons and validate them as legit concerns. However everything else about this microwave is great so I’d definitely recommend it. These cons might cause me to give it 4.5 stars instead of five—reflected this by giving four stars for ease of use (other than these cons it’s very easy to use, tho).

Quiet, stylish
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I purchased this microwave solely based on it being the only model that I could find that opened and closed quietly. The sound of my family slamming the microwave door drove me crazy so when my Kenmore Elite started to run when the door was open and not run when it closed I jumped at the chance to try and find a quiet microwave. My search consisted of me opening and closing the door of every unit on display. This KitchenAid was the clear winner. I paid for a convection element that I may never use just for the almost slam-proof door. This oven looks very nice in my kitchen and it is so quiet! I can hardly tell that it’s running. Had no idea that my former unit was so loud. The exhaust fan is loud however. I only have 2 complaints: you can’t pause to check your food then resume with the remaining time. You have to press cancel then start over. And I don’t think you can turn off the reminder sound. It’s either all sound off or on. The reminder beep is annoying. Oh, one more con is that if you put something in the microwave and don’t start it right away you have to open and close the door again to turn it on. I don’t know how long the lag is, I’ve never timed it but it’s annoying that I can’t put a bowl of soup in the oven, let it sit for a few minutes while preparing other stuff then start the soup without the thing making me open and close the door. Overall I do like this microwave. When my fridge goes I’m going to buy a KitchenAid to match.

Great Value and Features
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. With very few Over-the-Range Microwave/Convections on the market, this was great value. We were looking for a new Microwave/Convection oven to replace our 19 year-old GE Profile with similar functions mainly because we were remodeling our kitchen and the 19 year-old oven did not match the new Stainless Steel Décor. Did not have much of a choice right before the remodel when the old door handle broke off. This oven was fairly easy to install, but does require experience or installation manual plus it takes two fairly strong people to lift oven over head. The fan is a little noisy. easy to operate for typical express type cooking.

Q: QuestionDoes this need anything additional to purchase for proper installation, and how difficult is it to self- install?
Asked by marypie.
- A:Answer I'm somewhat handy and had no real problem installing this myself. I simply removed the old fan/light range hood and installed this microwave/convection oven in its place. I opted to use the default option of the recirculating fan instead of configuring an exterior vent so therefore I did not need to buy anything to install this that didn't already come in the box. The paper instructions have a template to locate holes for the top screws and the plug. This unit requires a 20A breaker, but luckily my outlet above the stove already had that. The top of the box is a template you use to very carefully locate where you will mount the rear bracket. You need to mount both ends of the bracket into the wall with drywall anchors if studs are not at those holes or just straight to the studs if your lucky enough that your studs do line up with the ends of the bracket. If you did use the drywall anchors at the ends, then you must find at least one hole in the bracket that is in front of a stud so that you can secure the bracket to at least one stud, preferably two. Once the bracket is in place, just roll the back edge of the oven onto it and then run screws through the upper cabinet down into the microwave to hold it into place. You may need a second pair of hands to help with this step because the oven is rather heavy to hold, roll onto the bracket, AND screw to the upper cabinet. You cannot let go until the upper screws are in place. -Dan

Q: QuestionDoes this unit function as a "hood" over the range so that when I am cooking on the stove it vents through a duct to the ceiling?
Asked by kunst22.
- A:Answer Yes, this microwave will either recirculate, vent out the back or vent out the top. Before install you just need to remove the fan & rotate it which way to want it to vent, it's super easy. I believe pretty much all over the range microwaves do this...at least from the research I did before purchasing this one.

Q: QuestionWill the convection function similar to a range? I would like to cook raw chicken but do not have an actual oven, will this work? And I do not want microwaved chicken.
Asked by Jess.
- A:Answer Absolutely no different than a convection oven! If a recipe tells me to bake at 400 degrees for 30 min. I can safely set it at 375 degrees for 20 minutes and be confident that it will be perfect. I use mine instead of my huge oven and cook everything from chicken to cakes!

Q: QuestionIf installed between cabinets (flush), will the door hit the cabinet when opening?
Asked by Larios.
- A:Answer It will not hit, back edge of door actually swings in when the door is opened, when fully open the front edge is still even with the edge of the microware.

Q: QuestionCan you use a metal pan in this microwave on convection mode? The manual says you can but the microwave has a prompt that says to use only microwave safe pans.
Asked by Keppy.
- A:Answer When using it as convection you can use a metal pan. If using it as a microwave then no.

Q: QuestionI don't like microwaves where I must press -->cook-->1-->0--.>0-->start to get 1 minute cook time. GE's all have quick minute... you press "1" and that's it (not even "start"). My question is can I just click +30 then +30 twice to get 1 min cook time?
Asked by steve.
- A:Answer All you have to do is touch Start and it starts running for 1 minute. Touch again to add a minute etc. it’s just a touch, no “pressing” as the surface is glass.

Q: QuestionWill this mount under a 15 inch deep cabinet?
Asked by ace.
- A:Answer Yes, it will. This is mine with 15"deep cabinets.
Answered by Marcy
Q: QuestionCan this be rear vented outside
Asked by Scott.
- A:Answer Yes, definitely. This is covered in the manual. By default, the fan is positioned to vent indoors (recirculate), but the installation instructions also cover how to remove and rotate the fan so that it blows out a pre-existing vent to the outside.
