585 cfm/65K BTU threshold
Allows installation over any KitchenAid regular 36- or 30-inch range or cooktop, and some commercial-style cooking surfaces with outputs up to 65K BTU.
Three fan speeds with auto-speed setting
Takes the guesswork out of protecting cabinets from steam, grease, and moisture by automatically adjusting fan speed to ventilation needs depending on the heat being produced.
Boost function (10 minutes)
Enhances performance when using high-temperature cooking techniques by providing a timed, short burst of high-speed ventilation to effectively filter steam, grease, and odors from the air.
Whisper Quite System® @ 49 dBA at low speed
Ensures that the ventilation system operates at a quiet level so it can be used while entertaining. At maximum speed, sound level is 65 dBA (5.4 sones).
Perimeter ventilation
Increases ventilation system efficiency by pulling air from the edges of the hood and speeding up the movement of air at the center, allowing it to efficiently handle up to a 65K BTU total output.
Electronic glass touch control
Provides electronic operation with visual feedback on settings and selections.
LED task lights
Provide extra lighting over the cooking surface to help in the cooking process.
Halogen night lights
Enhances the style of the ventilation system by providing soft, accent lighting in the kitchen.
Dishwasher safe grease filters
Reduce steam, grease, and odor to help avoid contact with ceilings and countertops. The design increases filtration by obstructing the path of vented air to help capture more steam, grease, and odors as they are drawn through the vent.

Excellent Hood With Modern Features
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed.We purchased this hood with our new cooktop. I love the auto fan feature. It only turns on when it needs to, mostly on low, very quiet. I still need to rip out the upper cabinets so I can show off the beautiful SS chimney cover. There are two sets of LED lights, true white for cooking, and a more incandescent looking LED if you like to leave on a light in the kitchen at night. Sorry the photo is a bit dark and does not fully showcase the beauty of the SS during the day.

Fabulous vent hood
||Posted . Owned for 2 months when reviewed.We recently converted our electric cook top to gas (used the LP converter kit since we are on propane. Cook top we purchased was the KitchenAid - 36" Built-In Gas Cooktop - Stainless steel Model:KCGS956ESS which we LOVE!! This vent hood was recommended by our Best Buy consultant for it's compatibility, function and beautiful form. The operation is powerful and very quiet! It has 2 lighting options which I like and 3 fan settings! Fairly easy to hard wire and install. Overall, extremely happy and highly recommend!

Q: QuestionWhat are the dimensions of the column that extend above the actual hood to the ceiling? Can an extension be purchased so that the column can extend to and through a 9' ceiling?

- A:Answer The outside dimensions are 13"wide x 10.5" deep x 34" tall. It fit in our kitchen with 9' ceiling and didn't need the extension that you have to/ can order separately. We bought this model because the hole in our drywall ceiling was large for the vent and this was one of the widest column models we could find. We love it and would recommend.

Q: QuestionIt indicates that this is convertible. I do not have an opening to the outside to vent to. Currently I have a cooktop that has a downdraft vent that we will replace. Is there a part number for the kit to convert this to recirculating?
