Perfect Choice!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. We are thrilled with our choice of televisions. We recently remodeled our family room, which housed a 48" projection TV that we bought 18 years ago. With the new look in the room, we definitely needed to update our TV. This 55" LG has a great picture, easy hookups and is perfect for our room. I love all the LG and Best Buy support/info emails that have come to assist with getting the best picture and taking care of our new television. I highly recommend this item.

Great Present
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. We purchased this TV as an gift for our parents. The TV is great for the non smart TV kind of audience but want to experience the same quality. Ratings based out of 10 Sound quality is 6, the sound needs accommodated with a sound bar for direct hit Picture Quality is 8, only because the TV is not a 4K Easy to Install is 10, It comes with a stand but we used a universal wall mount rack which is full motion Easy to use is 10 (cables are not organized /hidden at the time the picture was taken)

Fantastic TV for the price
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I went back and forth between numerous models before finally settling on this LG TV. The picture is fantastic. The colors are great and there is no motion blur. It does very well for gaming and the sound is actually very good as well. Some have issues with the dual feet stand but it has not been a problem for me. You will need a long table for it if you don't wall mount. The only "weakness" of this tv is having only 2 hdmi ports. I don't need more but some may. Overall, you can't beat this tv for the money.

Great tv, fantastic price
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I've been a Samsung fan for a long time, but when it comes down to it, they can be a little over priced. I bought a 47" LED from LG last year and absolutely loved it so when it came time to buy a larger tv for my basement/bar they were the first brand I went to. The 55" has great clarity, color and the 120hz refresh rate is a must if your a sports fan or gamer. The sound is good. Not great but no where near horrible. The only major downside is the 2 HDMI ports. I wish it had one more to keep my cable, playstation, and chromecast all connected at once without having to choose between the PS and chromecast. Minor inconvenience that the price completely makes up for. Highly recommended.

Excellent LG 55" HD TV
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. My wife and I have thoroughly enjoyed this new LG HD 55 Class TV. It really gives an excellent picture and is easy to program and use. The picture quality is very sharp and produces a great HD viewing of movies or regular program viewing. The color quality is excellent as well. The quality of the picture makes the product an excellent choice. This was a great buy and we are very pleased with the new LG 55LB5900 55" TV. We also purchased the Roku Streaming Stick which makes the TV similar to a "smart" TV. We would certainly recommend this product for anyone looking for a new HD TV as the quality is excellent.

awesome tv!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Very surprised by the quality and great features this TV offers. It look much better in my home as Best Buy doesnt optimize it on show room floor, I suppose due to the fact it's a cheaper TV and they need to justify spending more money on "higher end" tvs that are optimized. I'd recommend this to anyone and for the price it provides awesome value. I haven't experienced any flaws with picture quality and I believe it can compete with other expensive tv sets. It looks better than my 46"samsung LED I paid $1k A few years ago.

Great product that works as expected
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Simple and elegant slim design. Perfectly fits 18'x12' family room. Real space saver with full motion SANUS wall mount, easily adjustable to different layouts of furniture in the room. Excellent picture quality for the price ($649). Full sound for a mid-size room. No-brainer setup and operation. My family enjoys it greatly. To me it is a reliable quality appliance that works as expected. There is never a limit to more advance TV set. It all comes to habits and preferences of specific users. I am happy with my purchase.

Q: Question60hz Play OptionMany people complain that the newer 120hz TVs with some form of motion smoothing technology actually makes the picture less real looking, its called the Soap Opera Effect. I have noticed this in my parents samsung tv. Many tvs have an option to play in 60hz or to turn off the motion smoothing ability. Does this TV have anything similar where it can play in standard 60hz?
Asked by Anonymous.
- A:Answer Thank you for your inquiry! The 55" Class (54-5/8" Diag.) - LED - 1080p - HDTV, Model # 55LB5900 is a 120Hz TV, but let's get back to basics on this answer! People who complain about the "soap opera effect" have to understand two important things about video. First, you can't add detail beyond what is already in the source footage. Second, the source footage is never greater than 60Hz. When you watch a movie on Blu-ray, it's a 1080p picture at 60Hz. The disc displays 60 interlaced or 30 progressive frames at 1,920-by-1,080 resolution per second of video. For movies that were recorded on film, the original footage is actually 24 frames per second, upconverted to 30 frames through a process known as 2:3 pulldown. It distributes the source frames so they can be spread across 30 instead of 24 frames per second. Those frames are then interlaced (combined and shuffled) to 60 "frames" per second to match the 60Hz refresh rate of the vast majority of TVs you can buy today. In the case of 1080p60 televisions, the frames are pulled down to 60 full frames per second, and both the players and HDTVs outright skip any interlacing step. However, once a TV's refresh rate goes above the rate of the content you're watching, it starts performing tricks to produce a higher frame rate. It interpolates new frames between the frames transmitted to the display at 60 frames per second (or processed into 60 frames per second from 24 frames per second for film footage, through the separate pull down process), and the HDTV fills in the spaces by generating the best "middle" frames to stick in the cracks. These new frames are made by combining and processing the data of the frames surrounding them, generating the images the HDTV thinks it should draw between the images it's told to draw by the media. You're looking at more individual pictures as the screen draws them, but these pictures weren't on the Blu-ray disc or television signal that the screen is receiving; the HDTV is generating those additional pictures itself. Refresh rates and motion-enhancing modes higher than 60Hz can produce a surreal effect when watching movies and television shows. The additional frames and "smoother" animation looks different from what we're used to with TV and movies, making the footage appear strangely fast. For any sort of content where you watch people interact naturally, like comedies or dramas, this can be unsettling and you should consider turning off the motion enhancing mode and force the screen to display the picture at 60Hz. However, for sports and video games, those added frames can help reduce stuttering and blur, and the action will be easier to track...IFV

Q: QuestionHow is the glare?Does the tv have more of a 'matte' finish to suppress glare or is it fairly glossy which can have considerable glare? On the viewing area I mean.
Asked by marko.
- A:Answer Your inquiry is much appreciated. The LG - 55" Class (54-5/8" Diag.) - LED - 1080p - HDTV - Model # 55LB5900 has a matte screen and although it does not have an IPS panel, it is an LED direct-lit LCD television that has good off angle viewing performance for an value LED TV. Compared to many LED direct lit models the 55LB5900 still looks good at angles around 30 degrees off center where the others will start to have contrast degradation at 20 to 25 degrees. The 55LB5900 has a nice bright, vibrant display and the backlighting gives it good levels of brightness and contrast. Light flow through is another strong point in the picture and helps to add depth to the image. The picture is highly customizable making calibration easy to achieve, so color accuracy is bright and natural after calibration. The 55LB5900 also has a 120Hz refresh rate which is normally reserved for higher priced models...IFV
