Synopsis

Lilo & Stitch
A lonely little girl makes a very unusual friend -- a ukulele-playing alien who likes to toss around small automobiles -- in this antic animated comedy from Walt Disney Studios. Lilo (voice of Daveigh Chase) is a young Hawaiian girl being raised by her teenaged sister Nani (voice of Tia Carrere) after the unexpected death of their parents in an auto accident. While Nani tries to hold their household together, Lilo is a child with unusual interests and a distinctive sense of humor, which makes it hard for her to bond with her peers, as well as her big sister. Nani decides Lilo might be happier if she had a pet, so the sisters go to the animal shelter to adopt a dog; however, the critter which catches Lilo's fancy is a fuzzy blue creature she names Stitch (voice of Chris Sanders). Nani isn't so sure Stitch is really a dog, and it turns out she's right; Stitch is actually "Genetic Experiment 626," a mutation created by extraterrestrial mad scientist Dr. Jumba (voice of David Ogden Stiers) to be used a weapon. Stitch is an intelligent but gleefully destructive little creature with superhuman strength who has escaped to Earth and crash-landed in the Hawaiian islands, but Lilo sees him simply as a fellow misfit and attempts to teach him to behave like her favorite American icon, Elvis Presley. Meanwhile, Nani struggles to keep Lilo and Stitch on their best behavior as stern social worker Cobra Bubbles (voice of Ving Rhames) tries to determine if Nani is fit to raise a child, while Dr. Jumba and Pleakley (voice of Kevin McDonald) attempt to capture "Experiment 626" and bring him back home. Chris Sanders, who provides the voice of Stitch, also co-wrote and co-directed the film, which features numerous Elvis Presley tunes on the soundtrack, as well as a new recording of "Burning Love" by country star Wynonna. ~ Mark Deming, Rovi

I have grown to like the film more as time has gone by. Good story, the Stitch character became very popular. Beautiful animation. Nicely designed DVD package. Had a point to the story about family but did NOT make people sick in getting the point across. Already the 2cd DVD release of the film. I REMEMBER SEEING THEY WERE ORIGINALLY GOING TO RE-RELEASE IT ON DVD IN 2004. Ok, normal, decent extras with this DVD package. I normally enjoy the "Making of" segments. But, the rest of this DVD package. A COMPLETE DISAPPOINTMENT DISNEY. WHAT WERE YOU THINKING? 1. THESE HORRIBLE HAVE THE LITTLE FLIP OPEN PARTS TO GET INTO THE CASE/JEWEL BOX Some Disney DVD"s have them some do not. HOW ABOUT NONE DISNEY? 2. Is Disney thinking it is 10 year ago at the beginning of DVD's? WHAT IS THE DEAL WITH THE PLAIN, SILVER DISCS? This film has beautiful animation but yet THERE IS NOTHING ON THE DISC I hope Disney does better in the future with the 3rd DVD release of the film.

Lilo and Stitch is a fun film that puts the spotlight on family. Sure the focus is on the titular team-up, but the film's heart resides within the relationship between Lilo and her sister. The movie has a lot of talent in the voice cast and behind the scenes crew, all of which contribute to an out-of-this-world product.

LILO and stitch was a great Disney film back in 2002 and when I purchased the original DVD about two years from then I was happy to own a great movie in my collection. Unfortunately I lost that movie thanks to a "friend" stealing it from me. But many years later I'm glad to have it back with me and special edition no less.

I recently bought this for a relative and hope they enjoy it as much as I do. LILO and Stitch are the perfect yin and yang. One mild manner, shy and adept, the other loud and wild. But at the center of it all, it preaches family and that not only should being different be accepted, but also embraced.

This movie is perfect to teach children about different family structures and the frustrations of being different. It shows how ugly bullying is and how the most unlikely friend can become "ohana".

This is a terrific movie. Disney has a way with characters and it's no different with Lilo and Stitch. This is the first of a few movies they made with the two characters and also a tv show with them. I loved this movie when it first came out and still do.
