I picked this up because I found my old PC copies of a few Tony Hawk titles and while my xbox controller was functional I've always felt these types of games were better suited for the playstation dual shock layout. This one was inexpensive, decently reviewed, and I have had good experiences with Logitech devices in the past. The buttons all have a good tactile feedback when you press them leaving no question that a button press did happen, the analog sticks have just the right amount of resistance and the only thing that would make them better would be a concave design to the head of the stick, the analog triggers are smooth but a little one the short side. Now for the kicker... since this was purchased for Tony Hawk titles where a good responsive d-pad is crucial as direction controls affect which trick you do and hitting left or right plus the flip button is a simple kickflip or heelflip but having a dpad also register a press of the up or down makes it an angled press which is usually a flip trick that needs more air to pull off and accidentally doing a sal flip when you only had room for a kick or heel flip can mean the difference between a barely landed combo and a failed combo... and this d-pad has done this to me more times than I can count... controller manufacturers need to realize sony got it right with 4 completely isolated buttons for the d-pad So one star knocked off for a d-pad that could easily be better.. Also the controller does not include vibration motors so if that is something you really want skip this one

      Great controller

I bought this controller mostly for game console emulators (nes, snes, playstation, etc..) and it really works great. I used to use my old Microsoft Sidewinder controller but this one is 10 times better. One problem I had with the Sidewinder was that in a lot of games that require you to duck to avoid something, you had to press exactly down on the d-pad. If you weren't perfect about it then you'd get up and get hit by whatever it was you were trying to avoid. This controller doesn't have this problem at all. So now a lot of games that were practically unplayable with the Sidewinder work great with the Logitech controller. Another thing that's great is that you can use the analog stick instead of the d-pad if you want. For some reason you have to press the 'mode' button to switch between the d-pad and analog stick though, but it's not a big deal. I took one star off the 'Ease of Use' category because if you have Windows XP the driver that comes with the controller doesn't seem to work. It doesn't detect the controller. It turns out you need to install the drivers for a Microsoft XBox controller. The reason is that this Logitech controller and XBox controllers both use something called XInput. Here's the link for the driver you need if you have Windows XP: http://www.microsoft.com/hardware/download/download.aspx?category=gaming Also, the switch on the back of the controller needs to be set to 'X'.

I bought this controller so my 4 year old son can play some of the more complicated games and not wreck his keyboard out of frustration. The Gaming Profiler that comes with this gamepad can be really easy to set up. For those that are a bit confused by it, the Gaming Profiler just makes it so instead of pressing your keybinds, you press your gamepad buttons. I tried it out for Diablo 3. It took a little bit of work to get it going in D3, because it seemed like the controller was being recognized as a keyboard and mouse. Had to go into my Keybinding to set it up rather than the Gaming Profiler. The Analog sticks and Trigger Buttons seemed to be a bit stiff compared to an actual PS2 controller, but I imagine that it does take time to get use to it. The housing for this gamepad does feel a bit cheap, so I imagine it's not that durable... BUT I do know I had a different controller model about 5 years ago that seemed to be the same way and lasted a couple of years. I'm hoping this controller has the same outcome, but we'll see. Also I was not able to get an extended warranty on this product when I bought it in stores. So if you can get one online, I highly recommend it....just in case.

Works for all my Emulators, NES, SNES, Sega Genisis, N64, and Nintendo DS. I used it with Windows XP Professional SP3, needed to install the software, and configured the controlls in my emulators, and works 100%. I used it with Windows 7 Ultimate, didn't need to install the software for the controller, and configured the controlls in my emulators, and works 100%. There is absolutly nothing wrong with this controller. Doesn't need Batteries, has a decent cord length, and works flawlessly. Thank You BestBuy, well worth $26.99, after tax. I did a video tutorial on YouTube using this controller, can play all the games I want now, Thank You So much. Don't go to GameStop, Don't Go to EBGames, they SUCK. BestBuy Pwnes RadioShack and GameStop / EBGames. Don't get a wireless controller, unless your willing to spend about 40 to 50 bucks on rechargable battereies, this controller is the best,. My old controller even works with a Mac OS X, and Emulators.

This is a good, fully functional wired controller, from the trusted guys at Logitech. Most modern games will set this up as an XBOX360 controller, which works perfectly, as the buttons are laid out, and colored the same. The sticks are in the more traditional PlayStation design however, not the offset design of XBOX. There is no rumble/feedback feature, which at first bothered me, but in reality, its absence sort of helps with control. Another review mentions super sensitive response with the sticks. I haven't really noticed to where it is any different than an XBOX controller, however I would offer this: I've noticed that when it is first connected to Windows (I'm using 8), if you don't rotate the sticks fully around (as in calibrating them?) then once you're in-game, there's practically no dead zone, and the slightest touch sends you all over the place. You don't have to go to an actual calibration screen or anything, however, if you rotate the sticks fully after you plug it in, or restart Windows, everything is just fine. I wouldn't say that this is the build quality of a true XBOX controller, it is very lightweight, and feels very hollow. I feel as though if you get mad, and launch it at a wall, or floor, it will very likely shatter into several useless pieces. That said, it being half the price of an XBOX controller, and performing the same task, without the rumble, or the wireless input lag; it is a very good value, and worth the purchase.

      Great for retro gaming.

This gamepad is excellent. It is the best controller I know of at the moment for retro gaming. I am running Vista and it installed without any problems. The profiler software is great. With the switch on the back of the controller set to "D" you can map all the controls to keyboard keys. This means you can play old adventure games like Ultima IV almost entirely without using the keyboard. The switch on the back must be set to "D" to use the profiler software. Also pressing the mode button on the top will swap the D pad and left analog stick. The xbox controller does feel more sturdy but the Logitech feels fine. I don't get the impression the buttons or sticks will fail soon. For regular gaming I would prefer the xbox 360's D pad placement. The D pad does seem a bit flimsy. This controller has a lot of configuration options, its constructed well and works fine. As far as I know it is the choice for retro gaming.

The Logitech F310 Gaming pad isn't going to impress your friends or intimidate your enemies but what it will do is provide you with a consistent and reliable gaming controller experience. Its design is nothing new or innovative but that's not negative as most gamers have gotten use to the double joystick, 4 buttons, bumpers and buttons, and a directional pad feeling of console gaming over the past 25 years and more. The F310 has a good strong construction and doesn't feel cheap . I will admit I haven't played using the "modes" on the controller but after dozens of hours it certainly hasn't let me down or provided me with any problems. This is a four star review.. why? The F310 is solid and relatively inexpensive but it doesn't provide you with anything beyond the basic controller experience. It is wired and the cable is standard. The grip is standard. The buttons are very basic, so are the dual sticks. Nothing about the controller puts it in the top 10% of basic pc controllers. Having said that... I recommend this Gaming Pad whole-heartedly. Go out and buy one. It's much better than the dozens of offbrand monstrosities available elsewhere and won't leave you mapping buttons or with significant dirver issues. (If you've got a little more $$ I recommend an authentic xbox/playstation controller)

I bought this controller to play Skyrim on my new iMac which I gladly bought from Best Buy. As I used to be a PC gamer but couldn't financially keep up with the market I switched to console and love it. So I'm no longer used to mouse and key and needed a controller. I tried using my Xbox 360 controller but that didn't work and trust me i tried everything. so i figure the price on this fellow was reasonable and I didn't want to invest into something pricey as I've already dominated Skyrim and all of it's glory once, I just wanted a game on my computer that wasn't in my living room. Boiling it down, this controller is good for what it is for but it has some drawbacks. The joysticks do not move fluidly enough. They feel unresponsive or too responsive and seldom meet in the middle. The grip is familiar as its design resembles the PS but i tend to tuck my trigger fingers under the controller and theres not enough room to comfortably play that way. the buttons seem a bit clunky and at times unresponsive. and wired sucks. all in all i prefer to play on this rather than mouse and key for a past time gaming session. I'm happy with my purchase but i only recommend it for gamers who are in the same boat as me. or if you're looking for a quick replacement while you save for something better.
