A: Yes it does.
Q: can this chair be checked in as like luggage with any airline?
A: I would not check it where you check luggage, because it doesn’t have a bag or protection and it would be damaged - but you could push it thru security and board with it and since it’s a medical apparatus the airline would “gate check” it like they do with kids strollers, etc and put it under the plane. Just remember to wait for it and pick it up as you get off at the plane door.

Q: Would this be good on sand/beach for a paraplegic? His regular wheelchair will not work.
A: No the tires are too small. You would be best to get a “beach” wheelchair with the big tires. They rent them near most beach towns for about $50 a day and you can try them out. This chair would absolutely sink into sand unless there is a paved area.
