Mirage - MX 1300W 5.1-Ch. Home Theater Speaker System - Black

The sound put out by these little speakers just defies the law of physics. I love them. I did a lot of research online and a lot of listening in the stores. I wanted small speakers that would not take up a lot of space and that sounded great. I narrowed it down to the Mirage Nanosats, Mirage MX 5.1 and the Klipsch HD Theater 1000. I chose to go with the MX 5.1 because when I listened to them, I was really impressed by the clarity of sound these speakers put out. Not only that, but the speakers project sound using what Mirage calls omnipolar technology that creates a surround effect from each speaker. The Mirage Nanosats do the same thing, but they are bigger. The Klipsch HD Theater 1000 was a great speaker system as well, but it was too big for what I needed in the room I was putting these in and I don't need something really loud. I also checked out the Definitive Technology ProCinema 600 but there wasn't enough output from the surround channels and again, larger speakers. These Mirage MX speakers are small, so they don't deliver a lot of bass. They're frequency range is limited on the lower end, but that's where the subwoofer picks up the slack. My receiver has a Crossover frequency setting that I can adjust so the receiver knows when to send a signal to the subwoofer. And when you look at the subwoofer, you will probably think it won't give you the rumble you want, but believe me, this little subwoofer does the job. When listening to the Dark Knight, the explosions are loud and the rumble sent out is fantastic. Also, listening to music, rock and roll, rap or pop music, the sub hits all the right notes. Most importantly, this sub complements the speakers and the speakers are not overpowered by the sub. I can still hear the lyrics to the music super clearly and the dialog in the movies. I had guests over the 1st night I had these up and they sat down and were like, "WOW! You have surround sound" with their head turning looking for the speakers. That's what I love about these little guys. You don't know where the sound is coming from sometimes. It's pretty amazing and they're super easy to mount on the wall. I put a screw in the wall and just hooked the speakers on. If you put them over 6 feet high, flip the speaker upside down so it projects sound down and towards you. So before you buy... Check out top ten reviews for speakers, these speakers are top 10 for home theater. Also, make sure you have a good receiver with a crossover frequency setting and..... MOST IMPORTANTLY: Listen to the speakers before you buy them. Sound is about personal preference, so what I like might not be what you like. Check out a Best Buy with a Magnolia Theater and sit down and listen to speakers. Bring your own movies and music from home.

I was looking to re-create movie theater sound but without the large bulky speakers. I was looking for quality but I wanted the smallest possible speakers. Immediately I was drawn to Bose because of the size. So I went to the Bose store for a demo. I kept asking the sales associate if all the speakers were on. He assured me they were. They sounded horrible. BUT the size was perfect. So I went back to Best Buy and planned on buying the Bose. The sales associate in Magnolia knew I was not content with my purchase and told me to take a look at these speakers. As he was giving me my demo I was shocked at how great they sounded. But I assumed it could not sound as good at my house. So I made a last minute call and bought these... Got home and hooked everything up to my Onkyo 608. I WAS FLOORED. The sound was just like the movie theater and the distribution of sound was flawless. The voices are crisp and clear and perfect. The bass was perfect and not overdone. The thing I cannot stress enough is the sound literally fills the room and you capture every single sound in the movie. We used our PS3 and watched Avatar. The sound exceeded all of my wildest dreams. You can hear every single effect in the movie. I want to say its hyper realistic. My wife could not believe the quality and I was dumbfounded. As you can see I am beyond happy with this purchase. I urge everyone who demands a quality built product and is not afraid to pay for it to try these out. I heavily recommend these and cannot say enough good things about them. Just also want to mention the quality of the overall speaker is phenomenal. They look elegant and classy. They don't overpower the look or design of your living room. They are practically invisible. People wont even realize they are speakers until you point them out. Researched these online, read the other reviews, and decided to try them. Installation was not as easy as I had hoped. The previous speakers were a 10 year old set of 4" by 4" by 4" Sonys. The fronts were mounted on the walls, and the rears on the ceilings. It took a couple of trips to Orchard to craft a way to mount the MX to the existing mounts as all the MX have in back is a slot: They tell you to mount it by screwing a (molly) screw into the wall, back the head out a bit, and hang the speaker on the head. Even though each speaker weighs a few ounces I would still prefer a more secure mounting system. The next problem was that the diameter of my speaker wires was too great to fit in the speakers. That was remedied by cutting off half the strands, twisting the remaining strands together, and only putting a subset into the speakers. The connectors are set back into the speaker body. It was fun to stand on a ladder, hold the speaker in one hand while depressing a clamp, and try to thread a wire successfully into the clamp with the other hand. Then repeat for the other wire........ The good news is that you only have to install them once but you get to enjoy them for a long time :-) I endorse the other reviews: The sound is outstanding! Crisp highs and an amazingly competent bass out of the diminutive sub woofer. These weren't featured in my store because I think most people want more bulk for their speaker $$$ and I can understand that. But these should really be on your short list for the small to average sized room.

I`m a first time buyer of speakers & receivers. So I went online to do some research. I narrowed it down to Mirage mx 1300 5.1 and Klipsch - HD Theater 500 5.1. and a Denon receiver. Didn'T want to spend a 1000 on speakers, so I went to Best Buy to get the klipsch & denon. Went in the Magnolia room and the salesperson made me an offer I couldn`t refuse, the Mirage mx 1300 5.1 and the Denon - 630W 7.1-Ch. 3D receiver for a 1000 Bucks.sale ends 10-31-10. I had the geek squad install it.the sound is unbelievable,crisp and clear.Put in Saving Private Ryan. Bullets were fling from everywhere. this is a great system.

This speaker system is excellent. I was immediatly impressed by the balance between the satellites and sub. I would have liked to have paid less, but you get what you pay for. These speakers are worlds better than anything Bose has to offer. I have these mated to a Denon AVR 590, and they sound fantasic. The piano black finish is very attractive, but it tends to attract dust.

The Sound quality is awesome, including blu-ray. The sub puts out great bass and the speakers put out clear sound. The speakers have worked for many hours of very loud movie watching without blowing and no distortion, because who wants to watch a movie where you can't "feel" the movie! The speakers make a great movie theater like feel. They work great for all kinds of music from Rap and Rock to Jazz and Classical. Would highly recommend these speakers!

I looked at a whole bunch of speakers but by far these were the best. It didn't hurt that I got a nice denon receiver with it, all for $1,000! The speakers are small but deliver a great sound. I have these in my man cave, and they look awesome. Only down side is that it comes with a small sub, but it still produces enough rumble.

First off, I can not believe the size of the subwoofer. Incredible sound from such a tiny sub! I tested the Deftech supercube 2000 and 4000 and for the price and sound quality you can't beat this sub/system. The sound field from the sat speakers is crisp and clear. The room was approx 20x25 with high ceilings and tile floors. I think any room larger than that though would require something more powerful. You can't go wrong for a grand! I definitely recommend this system!
