Very nice phone for normal use
Posted .This is an excellent phone and value for money in this price range. For normal users, this is simply perfect. Pros: - screen quality: very nice quality, color display is awesome - screen size: 5" size is just perfect, fits in hand well. anything more than this starts to feel big - touch responsiveness is great - front speaker - awesome selfie camera - overall camera is average but front facing camera is really good. - decent battery life - unlocked: this can be used with any sim card - SD card slot: very handy if you want more storage which you will need for sure. - android OS updates: this has android 5.0.x version - default google android feel - motorola has not changed much in default apps or launcher, this is just like default android google experience Cons: - not able to handle multiple tasks at once - hangs sometimes - No 4G LTE

Great Phone For $180 Off Contract
||Posted .First of all I am a cellular phone fanatic. In the last 5 years I have owned: HTC Imagio. Original Droid. Motorola Droid X. Samsung Galaxy S. Sprint Nexus S. Samsung Droid Charge. HTC ThunderBolt. Samsung Galaxy Nexus. Samsung Galaxy Note2. Samsung GalaxyS4. HTC One. MotoX. MotoX Dev Ed. HTC One M8. Samsung Galaxy Note3. And the Nexus5. The MotoG (2014) is a great phone at that $180 price point. It runs almost stock Android (a newer version than the flagship Note3). Screen is big and decent. Sound is good (better than the Nexus 5 or Note3). It can be a little laggy at times (switching orientations is especially noticeable). Camera is meh. But here's the thing... It's $180 OFF CONTRACT!!!! You can forgive a bit of "meh" at that price point. Bottom line is I'd much prefer the MotoG over most of those flagships phones I have listed. It feels good in the hand. And it is not bloated by OEM skins like ToucWiz or Sense.

Best mid-priced off contract smartphone available
||Posted .If you are in the market for mid-range priced, unlocked (no 2-year contract) Android mobile phone then the Motorola - Moto G (2nd Gen) is the thee best offering available for sale in North America right now. Everything about this phone is mid-range and acceptable, but in this case that isn't a bad thing. For example: - 5" 720p screen is acceptable if not better than acceptable - the one generation old Snapdragon 400 processor is acceptable - HSDPA for data (instead of the faster, newer LTE) is acceptable - the 8MP rear camera is acceptable - the non-removable Li-Ion 2070 mAh battery is acceptable Bottom line: this phone represents all the right compromises for its sub $200 price. I picked up the white 8GB model and I found the white colored case to be crisp, bright and clean without picking up any dirt or grime in the last 4 weeks of constant but gentle use. Think you'll get tired of an all white phone? No problem, Motorola offers for sale from its website reasonably priced shells and flip case shells which let you to quickly swap out and freshen up your phone with a new color to suit your desire. Concerned 8GB is internal space isn't enough? Pick yourself up a 16 or 32GB MicoSD card (yes, this phone can accept it). Another nice thing about this phone is that as of late November 2014, this phone can be upgraded to the latest major Android OS release named Lollipop. After being prompted onscreen to update, I did and the phone has been functioning without issue. Amazing to be running the very latest Android version 5 for on such an inexpensive phone when phones costing three times more don't yet have the option to update. If you need a new mobile phone but can't (or won't) ante up for a full priced $500-600+ flagship phone but still want to avoid getting locked into a 2 year contract with a mobile carrier? Without a doubt, this is the phone for you.

Awesome Value for a no contract smartphone
||Posted .I have been using another device for about 3 months and I could not stand the amount of loaded apps from the manufacturer. I thought this was quite invasive and I am very unhappy with it. So I decided to buy a Moto G 2nd Generation. To my surprise, even with the 3G HSPA speeds, it was not lacking connectivity or any level of performance compared to my new high end smart phone that I bought. The Moto G 2nd generation phone was something as close to a stock android phone that you can buy - and this was exactly what I wanted. The sound is so clear when playing music, the phone itself is quick and shows no sign of lag. All I did was put my AT&T sim card into the Moto G Second Gen and I was ready to go (I had to call AT&T to reset my voicemail was the only downfall). I am so impressed and made this my primary device. I don't think I will ever go back to buying a phone under contract again!

Great phone for someone on a budget
||Posted .Originally I had purchased a Moto X (1st generation) from AT&T and loved that phone. Unfortunately I accidentally dropped it in water and it wouldn't come back on. I had already paid it off in full so I wasn't about to go pay another $300 for a phone. I went to Best Buy and started looking for deals. The Moto G (2nd generation) had almost everything I liked about my Moto X and even had a slightly bigger screen. The only things the Moto G didn't have was the voice recognition command (OK Google Now) and although it claims to have 4G capabilities, it seems to be a bit slower than what I'm used to. I am very happy with this phone and for anyone that would prefer to pay under $200 for a great phone, I think this one is the best choice.

Very good for the price.
||Posted .I purchased this phone to replace an LG G2 that had gone bad through a manufacturing defect (that conveniently went bad after the warranty had expired). So far, this Moto G 2nd generation has been great. Really easy to customize, especially if you get the Air Droid app that allows for wireless access to the phone from a computer - the charger that comes with it is not a USB charger. Very ruggedly built, too. I was able to get all of my app data transferred very easily as well. I also figured out a great feature to screen unwanted calls - I created a contact called "Block" and since you can add as many numbers to a contact as you want, every time I get a telemarketing call from a new number I just add it to the "Block" contact. The other part of this is under the customization menu for the contact you can choose to have calls from this contact go straight to voicemail, so it doesn't even ring your phone. Goodbye aggravating telemarketers!

My 1st smart phone that's also a GOOD PHONE!
||Posted .I'm not a sophisticated smartphone user, because I live in the Sticks and signal strength from any carrier (on AT&T now) is poor, at best. The "smart" features are handy when I am in an urban area with good coverage, and not intolerably slow at home. However, my other smartphones have been poor at making, taking and holding calls in weak signal areas, so they were not suitable for my typical usage. The Moto G, however, is actually BETTER at weak signal calls than my lame LG "feature phone" was. I'm slowly figuring out what apps I really need, and making the phone a more useful tool. (Why the hell doesn't a smartphone come with a decent file manager?) But for now, I'm just pleased I can make or receive a call or text in most areas of my home and land, and when I find a magic spot with a fair signal, make use of it as a broadband portal. Motorola seems to understand that a smartphone is a radio, as well as a computer, and that poor radio performance makes a smartphone a brick in weak-signal areas. Halleluiah. Somebody figured out we don't all live in the metropolis with cell sites on every building. And yet, we need cell phones with more than a little "smart" in them. I like my "g".

Q: QuestionU.S. version outside U.S.A.Mi local carrier (Movistar Argentina) works with these bands. 2G: 850. 3G: 1900. I know this model operates with them but, will it work successfully with them or is this model exclusive to the U.S? Due to the international version sold out. Thank you

Q: QuestionWill this phone work in India ?I will be taking this phone to India , will it work there in airtel and Vodafone network ?
Asked by Rajuguide.
- A:Answer This is an unlocked, GSM device. Which means it should ( and will ) work in India. US version has some special design considerations (no dual sim), but such considerations are not significant enough to make this device not usable in other countries.
