How can I join My Best Buy?

You can join now on BestBuy.com by creating an account. You can also join My Best Buy in any Best Buy store.

Does it cost anything to be a My Best Buy member?

My Best Buy is free to join and there's no ongoing membership fee.

When can I begin getting points?

You begin getting points for qualifying purchases as soon as you join the program. They become usable 15 days from purchase or time of shipment.

Who can join My Best Buy?

My Best Buy is open to individual U.S. (50 states, D.C. and Puerto Rico) residents at least 13 years of age who provide and maintain a valid email address. If you are between 13 years of age and the age of majority (18 or 19 years old, depending on your state) you must obtain permission from your parent or legal guardian before signing up for the program.

Where can I find my member ID?

You can find your member ID on your membership card, on your My Best Buy Credit Card, or on the Account Home page of your BestBuy.com account.

How do I qualify for My Best Buy Elite or Elite Plus?

Elite status is automatically awarded when you spend $1,500 or more on qualifying purchases at Best Buy and BestBuy.com in a calendar year, or $1,500 or more in total anywhere on the My Best Buy Visa®.

Elite Plus status is automatically awarded when you spend $3,500 or more on qualifying purchases at Best Buy and BestBuy.com in a calendar year, or $3,500 or more in total anywhere on the My Best Buy Visa.

What are the start and end dates of My Best Buy Elite and Elite Plus?

Your Elite or Elite Plus status begins about 15–20 days after you meet the qualifying purchase amount ($1,500 per calendar year for Elite; $3,500 per calendar year for Elite Plus). Your status continues through the end of the following calendar year, and ends on the last day of the following February. In any subsequent year, you may re-qualify for status when you reach the published spend requirement on qualifying purchases at Best Buy or BestBuy.com during the calendar year, or the spend requirement on your My Best Buy Visa.

Does it cost anything to be a My Best Buy Elite or Elite Plus member?

No. There are no fees to become a member, but membership is based on your annual spending on qualified purchases. See membership level details.

How does point banking work?

If you’re an Elite or Elite Plus member, you can choose point banking to save your points until you’re ready to issue a reward certificate. Or, you may choose to auto-issue your reward certificates when you reach a certain level. In your Rewards section, tap the “Change” link to change your preferences anytime. See your rewards preferences.

Ways to Get Points

Where can I get My Best Buy points?

You can get points on qualifying purchases made in the following locations: Best Buy stores, BestBuy.com, Best Buy Mobile specialty stores, and Magnolia Design Centers

If you are a My Best Buy Visa Cardmember, you will also get points on nearly every purchase made at Best Buy and wherever Visa is accepted.

How do I get points for a BestBuy.com purchase?

Simply sign in to your BestBuy.com account prior to placing your order.

How do I report missing points if I forgot to show my membership card?

You can report a missing purchase online, or call 1-888-BEST BUY (1-888-237-8289).

Can my family or friends use my membership so I'll get the points?

No. Memberships are not transferable and are only valid for use by the person who joined the program.

How do I get credit for a missing Best Buy purchase?

You can either report a missing purchase online or call 1-888-BEST BUY.

Points will post to your account approximately 15 days after purchase.

Why didn't I get points?

There are a few reasons you may not be seeing points in your account:

  • Points may still be pending; it takes about 15 days from the purchase date or shipping date for points to be posted to your account
  • You may have chosen the financing option instead of points when you used your My Best Buy Credit Card
  • Some products and payments are not eligible for points

The following purchases are not eligible for points:

  • Purchases made for resale
  • Purchases paid for with a reward certificate or Best Buy gift card
  • Certain charges and fees, including sales tax, state fees, service charges and other charges
  • Commercial purchases
  • Payments made on your My Best Buy Credit Card
  • Thermador products

What should I do if I think there is an error in the points I've received?

If it involves a Best Buy store or BestBuy.com purchase, please confirm it was an eligible purchase and that the item wasn't returned at a later date. A refunded item will reduce the points associated with the transaction shown on your purchase history, but it will not be reflected in the transaction detail. If you have questions, please call 1-888-BEST BUY and have your receipt handy.

Calculation and Timing of Points

How are my points calculated when shopping at Best Buy or BestBuy.com?

You'll get 0.5 points per one dollar ($1) you spend at Best Buy or BestBuy.com, excluding any amount spent on non-qualifying purchases. Simply show your membership card or present your phone number during checkout in a store, or create a Best Buy account to get benefits.

Do Elite and Elite Plus members get points differently?

Yes. Elite members get 1 point for every $1 spent on qualifying Best Buy purchases. Elite Plus members get 1.25 points for every $1 spent on qualifying Best Buy purchases.

Can I get points when I purchase a Best Buy gift card?

Yes. You will get points on Best Buy gift card purchases, but not on Best Buy gift card redemptions. Gift card purchases are excluded from all bonus point promotions.

What purchases are not eligible for points?

  • Purchases made with your My Best Buy Credit Card or Visa card for which you choose the financing option instead of points
  • Purchases made for resale
  • Purchases paid for with a reward certificate or Best Buy gift card
  • Certain charges and fees, including sales tax, state fees, service charges and other charges
  • Commercial purchases
  • Payments made on your My Best Buy Credit Card
  • Thermador products

Other exceptions may also apply.

When do my points appear on my account?

For most eligible purchases, your points will post to your account approximately 15 days from your purchase date, delivery date or shipment date, with the following exception:

  • Points for purchases made outside Best Buy with a My Best Buy Visa post monthly, based loosely on the credit card statement cycle.

Do points expire?

If there is no activity on your My Best Buy account for a period of 12 consecutive months, the points in your account (excluding Elite Plus members) will be issued as reward certificates down to the $5 level, and any remaining point balance will be forfeited. For example, if you have 300 points, you will receive a $5 reward certificate (250 points) and you will forfeit 50 points.

What happens to my points when I return an item?

The points you received for that purchase will be deducted from your account. View Program Terms for more information.

Getting Reward Certificates

What is a reward certificate?

A reward certificate provides a discount on the purchase of a qualifying Best Buy or BestBuy.com purchase.

How do I get a reward certificate?

You receive a reward certificate by accumulating at least 250 My Best Buy points — 250 points equals a $5 reward certificate.

How do I issue a reward certificate?

Most people will have a certificate automatically issued and emailed to them. If you've set your certificate preference level above 250 points, or if you’re banking your points, visit the rewards overview page to issue one manually.

How does point banking work?

If you're an Elite or Elite Plus member, you can choose point banking to save your points until you're ready to issue a reward certificate. Or, you may choose to auto-issue your reward certificates when you reach a certain level. In your Rewards section, tap the “Change” link to change your preferences anytime. Can I convert a reward certificate back into points?

No. Once a reward certificate has been issued, you must use it toward a purchase at Best Buy or BestBuy.com before the expiration date.

Can I get my certificates mailed to me instead of printing them?

No, but you can redeem reward certificates in store on your mobile phone — no printing is required when you download the free Best Buy mobile app for iPhone or Android.

Using Reward Certificates

Where can I use reward certificates?

Reward certificates can be used toward the purchase of nearly any product or service in store or online. They may be used on any qualifying product or service in an amount greater than the value of the reward certificate, excluding sales tax. Reward certificates may be combined with other offers.

Are there exclusions when using a reward certificate?

Yes. Certain exclusions apply. See the Program Terms for exceptions.

Do reward certificates expire?

Yes. Reward certificates will expire on the date printed on each certificate. The expiration date may vary depending on your membership level, or whether the certificate was received as part of an offer or promotion.

Can I give my reward certificate to a friend or family member?

No. Reward certificates are not transferable and may only be used by the member to whom they are issued. This means that you may be required to show identification at the time of purchase. Reward certificates have no cash value.

Do I have to print my reward certificate to use it in a Best Buy store?

No. You can ask the store associate to look up your reward certificates. Or you can redeem reward certificates on your mobile phone. Just download the free Best Buy mobile app.

Help with Certificates

Why don't I see a reward certificate even though I have enough points?

You may have set your preferences to issue reward certificates at a higher amount. If you have at least 250 points in your account, you can issue issue a certificate by managing your rewards.

What if I lose my reward certificate?

If you lose a reward certificate you can either reprint it or access it on your mobile phone, no printing required, via the Best Buy mobile app for iPhone or Android. When shopping in a Best Buy store, you can also ask your cashier to look up your available certificates and apply them to your purchase.

Can you replace my expired reward certificate?

No. Used or expired reward certificates cannot be replaced.

If I return an item where reward certificates were used, do I get them back?

Yes. If you made a purchase using reward certificates and your order is returned or canceled, we will refund the points to your My Best Buy account within 3–6 business days.

What happens to my existing Reward Zone membership?

Your Reward Zone member ID, points and certificates will automatically roll over to My Best Buy.

Where can I find my member ID?

Your member ID can be found on your membership card, My Best Buy Credit Card or on the My Best Buy overview page.

My Best Buy Credit Cards

How are my points calculated with the My Best Buy Credit Card or My Best Buy Visa?

Best Buy purchases using standard credit: Get 2.5 points for every $1 spent (that's 5% back) on qualifying Best Buy purchases on the card using standard credit. Elite Plus members get 3 points for every $1 spent.

Best Buy purchases using promotional credit: Purchases made on your credit card using promotional credit do not qualify for points but will continue to count toward My Best Buy Elite and Elite Plus status.

My Best Buy Visa non-Best Buy purchases: Get 1 point for every $1 (2% back in rewards) spent on qualifying dining and grocery purchases.

Get 1 point for every $2 (1% back in rewards) spent on other Visa purchases outside Best Buy. Purchases made at Pacific Sales Kitchen & Home Stores outside of Best Buy locations are excluded.

My Best Buy Game Pre-Order $10 Reward Certificate

My Best Buy members get $10 in reward certificates with pre-order and purchase of qualifying physical and digital games.

Who is eligible for this offer?

To be eligible for this offer, you must be a My Best Buy member and meet minimum age requirements for the game at time of street date or store pickup. Please see individual title page for street date (subject to change by publisher), minimum age (based on the Entertainment Software Rating Board ratings, aka ESRB ratings), available platforms, and other requirements.

How do I join My Best Buy?

You can join now on BestBuy.com by creating an account. You can also join My Best Buy in any Best Buy store.

What do I have to do to qualify for this offer?

If you are an eligible My Best Buy member, pre-order your copy of any of the qualifying titles for PS4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, PS3, Xbox 360, Wii U or PC (platform availability varies by title). Not valid with any other offers. No dealers. No rainchecks.

  • Best Buy Store, Physical Game: $5 deposit required to pre-order. Pre-order by 5 p.m. CT on day before street date. Present member ID at time of pre-order and pickup, and purchase and pick up game within 5 days of street date.
  • Best Buy Store, Full Game Digital Download: Payment in full required to pre-order. Present member ID at time of pre-order. Full game download code will be printed on receipt at time of pre-order or delivered via email on or before street date.
  • BestBuy.com Store Pickup, Physical Game: Payment in full required to pre-order. Sign in prior to completing online purchase, and pick up game within 5 days of street date.

When will I receive my $10 reward certificate?

For each qualified purchase, you will receive 500 My Best Buy points (worth $10 in reward certificates) credited to your account approximately 15–20 days after street date or store pickup.

Where can I pre-order and purchase qualifying games for this offer?

You may pre-order and purchase any of the qualifying games in Best Buy stores located in the 50 U.S./D.C. and Puerto Rico, or online at BestBuy.com in the 50 U.S./D.C., excluding Puerto Rico.

Can I pre-order and purchase multiple copies of a qualifying game and get multiple awards?

No. There is a limit of one (1) award per My Best Buy member per game title.

What if I forgot to use my member ID when I pre-ordered a qualifying game?

There are a few things you can do:

  • Report your missing points online
  • If you pre-ordered in a store, you can give your member ID to the store associate when you pick up your game
  • Call 1-888-BEST BUY (1-888-237-8289)

What if I pre-ordered a qualifying game before I saw this offer?

If you pre-ordered a qualifying game before seeing this offer, you’ll still qualify for the offer as long as your member ID is attached to the transaction.

My Best Buy Offers

What are My Best Buy offers?

As part of your My Best Buy membership, you have access to these personalized offers, including great deals on some of the latest tech. They can be found in your account on BestBuy.com, and in select emails. Your My Best Buy offers are just for you, and can only be redeemed using your account.

How do I find My Best Buy offers?

My Best Buy offers will be sent to you via email or can be found in your account on the Member Offers page. You can find this page under the Rewards header within your Account Home page on BestBuy.com or the mobile app.

How do I redeem My Best Buy offers?

This depends on how you received the offer and whether you'd like to redeem it in store or online. Some offers may be only redeemable via a specific channel.

Email: Click Get Offer, then click Activate Offer on the offer detail page. Once you activate, follow the directions to redeem the offer.

BestBuy.com or mobile app: From the Member Offers page of your My Best Buy account, select the offer you want to redeem, then click Activate Offer on the offer detail page. Once you activate the offer, follow the directions to add qualifying products to your cart and apply the offer in checkout.

In store: Print the offer detail page and present it when you check out in store. You also can have a Blue Shirt enter your phone number or scan your Member ID barcode to see all eligible My Best Buy offers and select the offer you want to apply to your purchase.

Why is the offer not available to apply in checkout?

All offers are available to view online, but some may be only redeemable via a specific channel. Please check that you are in an eligible channel for the offer you want to redeem, and that the offer has been activated. My Best Buy offers only display in checkout if they are eligible for the items being purchased. Make sure you are purchasing an eligible product for the offer you are trying to use.

Can I use an offer more than once?

No. My Best Buy offers can only be used once.

Can I share an offer?

No. The offer is activated for your membership only.

Why doesn't the offer I want to redeem show up on the Member Offers page?

Click See redeemed and expired offers under the My Best Buy Offers header to see if it moved there. Some offers can only be activated from email and will not show on your Member Offers page until they are activated. Check your email to make sure the offer was activated for your account.

Why was my offer canceled?

Reasons for canceling offers vary, but Best Buy reserves the right to cancel or withdraw My Best Buy offers.

I have two My Best Buy accounts. Can I combine them?

Yes. You may combine two accounts that have the same primary information. For your security, this process must be done over the phone. Please call 1-888-BEST BUY (1-888-237-8289) for assistance.

Where are my points?

You can verify your purchases on the Rewards History page. Points post to your account approximately 15 days after your Best Buy store transaction or your BestBuy.com shipping date.
