A very good binocular at a reasonable price!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I know a little about optics and I found this binocular, the Nikon - Aculon A211 8x42, to have some very nice characteristics for a product in its price class. First, the color fidelity of the view is extraordinary. The view is bright and colors are very natural. It's difficult to explain but easy to see. Also, I see little if any chromatic aberration (the purple glow of a bright object in a high contrast view). For optics not using expensive Extra-low Dispersion glass elements, this is extraordinary. I believe the special aspheric lens element in the eyepieces corrects this problem. Views are very sharp and the 8x magnification is easier to keep steady than higher values. On the downside, the very edge of the field is slightly defocused from the center, but unless you look for it, it isn't troublesome. Also, looking at a very bright object such as the moon against a very dark background, the image is clean and sharp, but there are some internal reflections apparent. I feel the pluses far outweigh the minuses and I have to give this bino a 5-star. To get a perfect glass you can spend $500, $1,000 and much more. For much, much less, the Nikon A211 is a very pleasing visual experience.

Love it!
||Posted . Owned for 5 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Little pricey to buy but once you feel the quality and use it often to magnify and appreciate far objects, you’ll forgive Nikon for the price tag. I recently started using it to watch celestial objects (moon, constellations, stars....) and I am thrilled. Except for the shaking that comes naturally from our own body, it did a great job magnifying the faaaaar away objects. The moon looked spectacular. Of course, you can look at the images online but once it was through just the binoculars, I felt like a child again. I wish I had a tripod for it.

Best binoculars I’ve ever owned
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Best binoculars I have ever owned.Best binoculars I’ve ever owned. I’ve had binoculars before, but these are above and beyond. I can actually see through these and adjust them. Our glasses come and I can actually see through these without my glasses very clearly. Love them.

Q: Questioncan each eye be focused separately?
Asked by gigi.
- A:Answer Both eyepieces are focused together with the center focus adjustment. However, there is an easy way to adjust the right eyepiece to compensate for differences in your eyes. You look through the binocular at a distant object and focus it for your left eye with the center focus wheel WITH THE LENS COVER STILL ON THE RIGHT SIDE LENS. So you are actually looking through the left side of the binocular only, with your left eye, only. Next, you put the lens cap over the Left Lens and uncover the Right Side Lens. BUT ---- DON'T touch the center focus wheel at all. Instead, while looking at the same object, twist the right eyepiece clockwise or counterclockwise a small amount until that same object you were looking at with your left eye is in focus with your right eye. The twisting might be a little tight, but will move maybe 1/4" each way. You'll see under the right eyepiece there are small symbols such as a + 0 - or something like that. Your best setting will be at the center or on one side or the other. You should always keep this "offset" set in the same place so both eyes will focus correctly. It sounds a little complicated, but you can do it. Give it a try a couple times and you'll see how it works. Enjoy.

Q: QuestionWhat is the best "power" of binoculars to bring an object close at 500 yards? Example: 10x42, 12x50, and others. I look at ships that are 100 yards away or more and want to see up close in the wheelhouse.
Asked by Bardo.
- A:Answer The 10x42 size binoculars will give you the same reach you need as the 12x50 size but are more convenient to carry as they are lighter in weight. The 10x42 also allows for less eye-strain than the 12x50. Both of these binoculars would be a great choice as they each provide the magnification reach for the distance you are asking about.
