Super laggy before modifying UI
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This device is extreme laggy and super slow to download and install apps. The 3GB of RAM is plenty, but the issue is with the Quad-Core MediaTek processor with PowerVR graphics. It just cannot handle much. It is a cheap phone with a replaceable battery and storage only uses about 12GB out of the box leaving about 20GB for the user. No complaints there. Initial setup did not take long, but as the device needed to perform updates for security and OS, it was extremely slow to download these as well and kept stalling, saying when device was not in use it would resume the download/install. I am not sure why it kept doing this as the device was just sitting there. I suspect it kept trying to update the apps at the same time. I did not purchase this device for my use. The user just needs access to WhatsApp. Being Android One, I assumed this would not be so heavy, but Android Go may have been a better option, but they typically are phones with even less specs. I have turned off all animations, auto-brightness, and anything else I can think that would rely on the processor to handle to try and speed this thing up. Android 10 gives more UI tweaks and ran better than Android 9. I also found turning off the swipe right (left of homescreen) for Google Feed greatly increased the speed of switching between apps and general navigation speed. I would recommend turning off auto-update as well...anything auto. This is a simple device and for basic use. It can handle a few simple games, think Atari and/or NES type stuff. Videos are fine and audio levels are okay. Also, the Android 9 that comes stock on the phone only has 1-way to navigate the phone and that is the Android Pill button and back button. I personally do not like this navigation method, but the traditional 3-button (back, home, recents) is not even an option. Upgrading to Android 10 gets you the new 2 gesture navigation which is much butter. But gestures are animations and still slow down the phone. Just know what you are getting into before you buy. I had assumed Android One would have been better optimized for this device, for the price point though, its hard to pass up if not paying full price. I was trying to get something with a plastic build and not greater than a 6" screen, as its hard to find either these days The Nokia 2.2 at 5.71", and a bit of bezel still clocks in at a 6" phone size as compared to a something with smaller bezels and larger screen, but it has a removable back and battery. It's not water resistant, but not a necessity for the needs of the purchase. You will be wanting to use this device on a GSM only carrier like AT&T or T-Mobile and there subsidiary brands Crickets, Mint, etc. It is possible it could work on Verizon, but you would have to talk to them as they are making to changes to the wireless technology and the types of phones that can connect to their system. If you are willing to shop around or purchase on Ebay an International phone, you can get something a little better in specs for same price if paying MSRP for this one, but buying International unlocked phones will sometimes cost you 4GLTE connection for 3G only on the cheaper devices. If you are buying flagship they have all the bands necessary. Its a good cheap backup phone depending on your uses. Just don't expect much and get ready to tweak the settings I mentioned and it would be a good child's first phone or possibly a 60ish+ phone. Its touch lag would make me think against the latter age demographic there though. Camera is pretty good for what you are buying just don't expect great.

Good for everyday use!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Pros: cheap, functions well for everyday use, small Cons: decent battery, glitchy camera, a bit slow Overall worth buying if an average camera and battery are not deal breakers. If used for 6 hours from full charge battery will be at about 30%, if used 2-3 hours I can get two days in before charging. Camera quality is not terrible, but sometimes the camera goes black or freezes. Looks cheap from the back, but once you put a case on it looks like any other phone.

Works great.
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Looks good. Sturdy enough for the price. Changeable battery a plus. Screen is also good. Most important size is perfect. Not too big and not too small. Fits right in hand and can reach all corners easily.

Perfect for kids..... or your parents
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This phone is not super high tech with all of the high tech options of Apple or Samsung. This is a really good phone for your kids or parents. No learning curve. Excellent phone for the price.

Good Cheap Android Phone with actual support
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.A very solid affordable Android phone that will get 3 years of security updates and 2 years of operating system updates (from initial release). The phone itself is plastic, but with a case that doesn't really matter to me. The only downside is the current swipe only navigation menu for Android Pie (9). I prefer the three button navigation method on previous versions of Android, and I'm not the only one as it might be making a return with Android 10.

Nokia back in the game with value and features!
||Posted . Owned for 2 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Nokia is pricing phones to get back market share from the early days where it was Nokia or nothing. At this price, they are running 9.0 Pie and have 3 RAM with 32 Gig hard drive. Combined with the 5 and 13MP cameras, these features are generally found on phones costing $400 and up. Sure, no wireless charging but for around $100 this is acceptable, as is the standard USB charger and not the slightly more convenient USB-C charger cable. Screen is wide and bright, speakers sound good as expected. Haven't used the facial recognition yet but it's a nice feature to engage when / if I decide to unlock my phone that way. This phone replaces my 2017 Samsung J3 and additionally, Nokia lets you use the built in FM radio receiver while Samsung keeps it locked away. I don't know that much about Android One that this phone has but one of the features is making Google Assistant much easier to access. I notice I can do a lot with this even when off-line whereas my old Samsung phone would generally tell me to connect to WiFi or data to use. I haven't figured out yet how to schedule texts to be delivered hours later but even if my Nokia texting software won't allow this it's nothing more than a minor inconvenience. With 3 RAM I haven't experiences any lag watching Netflix even though I may have Google docs or slides open in the background along with 2-3 other apps. One other item to note. In Los Angeles we are using T-Mobile. In my house I routinely show 4 of 5 bars with this phone, versus using same GSM SIM card from my old phone, this would show 1 bar. Not sure why reception would be better but it could be because this phone allows WiFi calling whereas old phone did not. I am all in on Nokia and considering a 2nd one to replace my teen's phone that as much cracks as screen.

Very good, but not great.
||Posted . Owned for 11 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this to replace an iPhone I owned for 4 years and it was initially a great phone. It quickly became slower and started losing support for things. Android is great on it and it does what it needs to do, butI didn't like the fact that this phone just couldn't do certain things that older devices could. As an example, Google Maps would be very slow and it lost compatibility with Google Cardboard so my VR hopes and dreams actually had to be realized on an older iPhone 5s.

Does what a phone should at a great price.
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I haven't quite figured out all the functions yet, especially the camera ones, but the little I have used it I have been impressed with the picture quality. As for the rest, I wish the phone had come with a thorough instruction booklet so that I'm not missing out on any features. My emails do tend to lag a few minutes behind my old Samsung phone, don't know why that is. The battery does last about 2.5 days, overall I'm satisfied after only a little more than a week of use.
