It's been a very long time since I've watch Oliver and Company prior to watching it on blu ray. The movie itself is fun and has some great voice talents. I enjoyed the characterization of all the animals. Maybe because I didn't grow up watching this particular Disney movie, it doesn't feel like a Disney Classic to me. I was surprised at how much the picture was cleaned up with the remastering. I was expecting much more film grain, but the picture was exceptionally sharp and seemed like it could have been computer animated. That was slightly detracting for a movie almost 30 years old. I would recommend it as part of the Disney collection, but I wouldn't rank it near the top.

Considering the fact that Disney was in a creative stupor in the 80s this is one of the best Disney movies from the 80s. this movie has always been held back by the shoddy animation but it was when Disney was first experimenting with computerized animation on computer systems that ran at a whopping 200Mhz. I writing this review on a computer that runs at 3700*8Mhz so I can forgive the animation issues. all said this is a fantastic movie for the whole family and even though the animation isn't the best, the images are sharper and the colors are better on Blu-ray vs. DVD or VHS.

This one is not among the most popular classics, but it's definitely up there for me personally. My mom would show me the sing-a-long videos when I was a kid, and most all the songs included in the movie were on there, so much that I begged her to buy me the movie and she did on VHS. Happy to own the blu-ray edition now that I'm all grown up for my viewing pleasure. And no, I don't have any kids, this is just for me. LOL!

Oliver and Company is an enjoyable and interesting adaptation of Oliver Twist set in the NYC of the late 80's. The plot, especially the ending of the movie are extremely predictable, but you must remember that the intended audience were children. The movie features fantastic animation, including some early uses of computer effects. There are also some memorable songs and the score is very dated. There were certainly better 80's animated movies, but while not a great movie it is still enjoyable to watch 25 years later.

While the Blu-ray transfer is good, very disappointed that this does not come with a digital code. It didn’t state it anywhere in the description but I was still hoping as Disney has released many other older animated movies with digital codes. Only reason I purchased was b/c of the sale. Otherwise I would’ve waited in hopes that they would re-release with a digital code included.

I have been waiting a long time for this classic that went under the radar to finally come out on Blu-Ray. It's a shame that this movie isn't very well known among Disney movies. I just love the very catchy music that went along with it. If you or your family skipped on this one, don't hesitate to pick this one up. You won't be disappointed!

This was the last animated Disney film before their renaissance with The Little Mermaid. While it's the powerhouse that Mermaid, Aladdin, Beauty and the Beast, or The Lion King had, it's a good story with a good modern 80s take on Oliver Twist. Good music and good heart.
