Was listening to CD's on my 4k player but just couldn't see the point of having my TV, DVD player and A/V receiver powered on just to listen to CD's. I looked into a CD player. I had seen this on the Best Buy website and had read the reviews and they were pretty positive and noticed that this CD player never stayed in stock for very long. So I ordered it as soon as I had seen it in stock. It took about a couple of weeks to get it shipped to the store and just picked it up and installed it on March 23rd. It has a solid build feel, a little heavy probably do to the internal amplifier for the use of head phones. As far as the sound quality. It surpasses the sound out put of the 4k player for playing CD's. I had to reconfigure my receiver settings, the sound of my CD's are so much more Fuller and in my opinion, more solid and detailed. I'm very happy with my purchase. Even the CD tray extends and retracts smoothly.

I like having a CD player in my sound system even though I do listen to digital files a lot. Onkyo has made a very good player by paying attention to the details of playback. The C-7030 player makes use of circuits that minimize the known issues of digital files stored on CDs. You could easily pay a lot more for higher quality players (even Onkyo makes more expensive units) but for higher quality sound it becomes cost effective to go for strictly digital file playback. Given I have a lot of CDs in my collection of music, I wanted to be sure I could still play them as my older gear is running on its last leg.

I wouldn't call myself an audiophile, but I know great sound when I hear it. After not having a CD player for my home setup for several years, I decided to get a new one. I read the reviews on many different CD units and learned about the importance of the digital-analog-converter (DAC). Trusting the reviews and on this site and a couple others about the DAC on this Onkyo, I thought I'd try it for what I consider a pretty cheap price. There really is a difference, and I'm curious as to how much better the higher priced units would sound. For now, I'm happy. I'm breaking out all the CDs, dusting them off and really enjoying a different sound. I run the unit through a vintage Pioneer SX-650 and a pair of Klipsch KG-4s. I highly recommend this Onkyo.

      Sounds great, hates scratches

I purchased this unit in lieu of a Marantz unit that was backordered. The sound Quality of this unit is superb, especially for the price. My only issue with this is that I have a few cds that have minor scratches. no other cd player I've played them in has even let me know they were there. This unit, However, doesn't like 1 single, tiny scratch on a CD. It's not that it skips, it gets completely hung up on that spot of the CD. Because of this, I am thinking about returning it and trying something else.

It's difficult to find a clean, crisp, detailed sounding, good looking, well built audiophile quality CD player these days at an affordable price. The Onkyo C-7030 fits the bill with an excellent DAC, the Wolfson WM8178 (192kHz/24 bit). These are getting rare, but for those of us who are old fashioned and like to listen to actual CD's, you will appreciate the sound quality this unit brings out.

Bought this to replace an older Adcom CD player. Very happy with purchase. Player has a fine DAC that produces pleasant highs, detailed midrange and very nice, tight bass without a sub. Unit operates smoothly and quietly. I am hearing some details on recordings that were obscured before. Model does need a little burn-in. I played for about 40 hours via the repeat function. Great price for a quality player.

I previously owned a multiple disc Onkyo CD player but opted for a single disc model this time. This model is very solid and quiet mechanically, a must for me. But the reason to buy this or any player is sound of course. It's beautifully crisp and accurate. A nicely designed remote completes the picture. There are models costing more and less but this one is an exceptional value.

It may not be jam-packed with bells and whistles as far as features, but in the meat and potatoes it is more than capable. The frame as well as the circuitry and converters used are top notch. Sound quality is excellent and on par with units costing two to three times as much. Why CDs may be falling out of favor those of us with extensive collections still need high quality players, this one fits the bill and an extremely attractive price.
