My camera is usually a foot or so from my head while I am filming. The quality of the video visually is good..... the audio STINKS! I have to use a wireless mic or you cannot hear me

Great Camcorder for fast action sports
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I wanted to film my son's hockey games for the team and looked at several camcorders and read about filming hockey from whatever online articles and forums I could find. The Panasonic 770 was suggested as a good camera for hockey as it has an action setting and performs well in low light situations. I've filmed several games in various arenas and they all have come out quite well. The forums also steered me away from the 4k cameras due to the amount to data storage needed, and I quickly realized that filming at 720 was enough. My only complaint is the MP4 codec used by the camcorder. I made the assumption that it was H264 and would be compatible with most devices, and that was wrong. I have to use a converter like Handbrake to convert to H264 in order to share and work with most devices and smart tvs.

Private investigators dream camera
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I work as a private investigator and I've been looking for a good solution to upgrade my cameras to and this camera was perfect. Because of legal requirements for evidence for court use, we are required to use cameras that can produce a date and time stamp on the video. I am currently using a Lumix which is a Panasonic brand. The software I use to convert a video takes the metadata that the camera generates and display the date and time stamp onto the video during the conversion process. I've tried multiple cameras from various companies and most do not convert. Panasonic and Lumix both do. What I love most about this camera is that it has a very clear night vision function. I decided to spend even more and go to the vx981 model. If you're on a budget, this camera is great for investigators as well as for everyday use. The images are super sharp and the functions are easy to understand.

Very Good Quality, Easy-to-use Camcorder
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I purchased this camcorder to video various meetings and events for a senior community home owners association. So while I knew of the more expensive 4K model, this 1080p version is very adequate for my needs. The on-line users manual is very detailed and I recommend that users read it to become acquainted with the camera's various features and settings. After reading the manual I found the camera very easy to use. The video quality on playback in 1080/60p is excellent. And, although the camera's internal microphone is adequate, I found that the use of an external microphone plugged into the camera resulted in much better quality audio on playback. However, if the camera is plugged into AC while recording, there is a noticeable hum or buzz -- so be sure to have a battery with enough recordable time for your event so you don't have to rely on AC -- in my case 1+ hour meetings. I was a little disappointed that Best Buy did not have, and could not order additional batteries for the camcorder, but that may have been because I made my purchase close to Christmas. Nevertheless, I was very pleased with the assistance the Best Buy sales associate provided me in selecting the product. I have yet to explore and use the many features that the camcorder offers, but so far all in all, I'm very please with the quality, value, and ease of use of this camcorder. I would definitely recommend it to a friend.

great camcorder
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.this is my second camcorder, it fits my needs. Clear video and turns on when i open the door, I use these for work everyday, The first one, the bottom broke out from me over tighten the cam to the monopod after almost two years and 6000 hours of use. The original battery could be better but there is after market one that excel well. if someone was to asked you will be about two hours of video time if you started and didn't shut it off on the original battery if that makes sence.

Great video, not ideal for livestreaming
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Download process to Mac is cumbersome, a wireless/Bluetooth option for livestreaming would be a big improvement. Bought primarily to film/livestream live sports, built in microphone does a decent job of picking up sound from the game, but is spotty picking up commentary even when speaking within 6 inches of the mic. Changing to a plug-in mic should be simple, but audio won't pick up sound from mic and the menu is not intuitive and requires a lot of settings changes to switch from built-in mic to one plugged into mic port.

Great mid-level camcorder
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I had bought this Panasonic HC-V770 camcorder after buying a Sony HDR-CX440. I wasn't impressed with the low light video quality of the Sony and hoped the larger image sensor in the Panasonic would perform better. I was very happy with the improvement the Panasonic provided in low light conditions and most conditions overall. I returned the Sony.

Q: QuestionDoes not download to pc from camera. what type of connector do I need. does Panasonic make one for this camera?
Asked by rayray.
- A:Answer Not sure what you did or did not do, but the included cables let you download directly to PC or Mac. I've done both, more than once. No problems. I normally don't do the cable method however, as my laptops both have a card reader and I either use that, or recently I have been using 3.0 card reader and it is really fast!!! Your camera should have come with both the charging cable and another shorter USB type cable, that one you plug into the camera, wait a moment, and your computer should show it in the explorer or what ever that you have. On my laptops (1 PC and 1 Mac) it also shows up as an icon on the desktop. Just a guess, but I am assuming that either you missed seeing the cable when you opened the box, or it was not in there. Accidents like that happen in manufacturing fairly often, so it is a real possibility. But if you don't have it or can't find it, then either contact Panasonic and get one, or just find another generic one; just make sure that it has a standard USB type plug on one end, and the tiny USB type on the other end, and you should be good to go!!!

Q: QuestionHow long is the battery life and long of continues recording before it turns off?
Asked by Nicknameunknown.
- A:Answer The battery that comes with the camera gives you 90 minutes but you can buy one that gives you 3 hours. I have shot events that were well over an hour long and have never had it turn off. It does tend to divide a long shoot into half hour videos but there is absolutely no gap between videos. As long as they play end to end, nobody would even know that they weren't a single video.
