    Very Impressive Movie

I didn't expect the movie to be as good as it was but since Chris Columbus, director of a few Harry Potter movies, I can see where the quality of entertainment and type of storyline came from, it was done in a Harry Potter-esque way so you know it'll be a winner. And speaking of that amazing series, which my family just love, we all know that Harry is about to end (I know, I'm sad too) but the Percy movies could be a good a great series as well. Harry hands the baton off to Percy.....a good idea and makes good sense (as long as the storylines stay strong). I agree with the first review about the Lady Gaga scene.....strange. Ok, the only thing that bothered me a little, and really bothered our 4 boys, was the Sigorney Weaver narration. I know thats the way they chose to integrate a narative format but for some reason, the way the director chose to use Sigorney's voice and the accompanying theme music/sound just didn't seem to fit smoothly. It was bothersome at times. Other than that, great movie and enjoy!

Harry Potter meets Clash of the Titans . . . .

Its Harry Potter meets Clash of the Titans . . . .but your kids can watch it! The movie overall is fun for all ages (well maybe not for a 4 year old might be too scary). The story though vastly different form the book is very engaging easy to follow and a laugh at all levels. Even the parents will get a good laugh out of it. The CGI was very good. The young actors hit it out of the park. Cons: Extras could have been better and does not totally follow the book, some important character let out, but that is being nit picky. Overall a good movie where you will mot be rushing to cover the kiddies eyes for inappropriate things. Its good for a family movie night.

I had rented the movie previously and decided that I would like to own it primarily because I have been to most of the cities showcased in the film. I especially liked the segment of the Nashville Parthenon. Inside the real Nashville Parthenon is a huge, gaudy, almost cartoonish statue of the goddess Athena. I found it interesting that the producers decided to create their own Athena for the film. I guess they found the Nashville Athena as artistically unsettling as I did (ha-ha)!

the Lightning Thief is a good movie. Not great, although your elementary age kid might think so. Your tweeners may ogle the actors and as their parent you might enjoy a few funny scenes and a few special effects. It is fun to see how characters tie in to Greek Mythology, if you know it, and who is who or begat by whom. Otherwise, unless you just love the Disney Channel, your attention may wander as an adult. It's a good one to sit though with your kids and create discussion and answer questions about the classical characters, so all in all, it gets a thumbs up.

Truly a fun movie. I've never read the book, so i can't compare the film to the book, but I thoroughly enjoyed the film. I was scared I wouldn't get into it due to it being directed at a teenage audience, but that surely wasn't the case. Both the video abd audio are superb. The film was made just right so adults as well as the younger crowd could enjoy it. It has a great plot, great action, and great acting. If you're into fantasy, this is a film to buy. I for one will definitely be investing into the rest of the series.

Trouble-prone Percy Jackson is having problems in high school - but that's the least of his challenges. It's the 21st century, but the gods of Mount Olympus seem to have walked out of the pages of Percy's Greek mythology texts and into his life. Percy has learned that his real father is Poseidon, god of the sea, which means Percy is a demigod - half human, half god. At the same time, the powerful gods on Olympus are feuding, which could launch a war enveloping our entire planet. My 10 year old son loved it!

The movie was great. I went to it with my fiance on Valentines Day of all days...I was prepared to be disappointed and it was fantastic! I don't know what the person who said it was terrible was talking about. I read the books and THEY were AWFUL! The writing was absolutely terrible in the books. I read all of the time and I struggled to finish them. The movie is fantastic though. Definitely a thumbs up and I definitely think that they should make the second one. Rick Riordan...you're a terrible terrible writer...Chris Columbus...Bravo!

I am just in awe of the animation used to make this movie. The story line is exciting and the scenes are wonderful. I'm glad to see that this one was sold with extra DVD's for us that do not want to switch to Blu-Ray. I have been having a lot of trouble purchasing DVD's that I think that I will watch over and over again because just Blu-Ray is offered. It's as though they (whomever "they" are) is trying to push it on us by not making them in original format for DVD players.
