Solid grooming device
|Posted .I have had many grooming shavers & trimmers in the past but I have yet to own one like this. This Philips multi groomer has many attachments such as nose, body, eyebrow trimmer attachments. This Philips trimmer has a built in rechargeable battery. I am concerned that in time the battery may hold less of a charge as all items with batteries do. The battery is not user replaceable. I have only charged it once since I got it. Battery life is pretty solid it states it will hold a charge for six hours. I have used it for nearly six hours and haven't had to charge it. The multiple grooming attachments are a plus. It comes in a nice case where everything fits. The groomer is also water resistant and can be used in the bath tub. I'm not an expert barber but this groomer has been pretty easy to use so far. I just haven't been brave enough to try the eye brow trimmer. I might just mess up my eyebrows. In time I will use more of the attachments. Overall this multi groomer has been solid and easy to use. I recommend it.

Almost 5 Stars! Not perfect, but really close!
|Posted .I've gone through more trimmers than I can remember. I keep buying these $10 'miracle' trimmers you see advertised on TV. They are usually good for a couple of weeks, then get dull and fall apart. The MG7770 is the first time I have a trimmer that is actually a quality piece of equipment! As a more-than middle age dad, I have hair growing all over my body but not on the top of my head! So grooming is important if I don't want to look like Sacha Baron Cohen in the movie "The Dictator"! Ha! Pro's: -Sturdy construction, water resistant and easy to hold. -Super super sharp! Be careful! Don't do what I did and think you can trim without an attachment. You will get cut! Trust me... I know! -20 attachments! Philips/Norelco thought this out and provided every type of trimming attachment anyone would ever need for everyday grooming. Attachments galore! -Quiet operation, lots of trimmers I've used buzz loudly - not this one! -10 year warranty! But you have to register online to get it. If you don't register the warranty will be 5 years (still impressive). -Quality travel case, nice construction, solid zipper, formed interior to keep things in place. -Long battery life! I have never had it run out of power. It claims a 6-hour battery life and I believe it. But I plug it in when I'm not using it. -Instructions are really helpful! Nice added touch that I didn't expect. Read the instructions before using this piece of equipment, it's worth your time! Cons: -The case could be designed better. Instead of tossing all the attachments into a meshed area, have an interior formed area where each attachment can 'click in', and be easily identified and removed. This would make reuse much easier. -The charge adapter is on the bottom of the trimmer. Why wouldn't it be on the backside so the trimmer could stand upright when being charged? I have to lie it down instead and that's a bit annoying. -The trimmer looks attractive with it's sleek body, but that's also a problem. In the shower it can be slippery. Why not make the body out of rubber, or some other material that is easier to hold onto when it's wet? -Not really a 'con', but - it's super sharp. If you aren't careful you can cut yourself. Always use an attachment! You've been warned! Overall I really like this trimmer, and look forward to using it for a very long time. Unlike the cheapo trimmers I've bought in the past, this one should hold up - which means in the long run it saves me money. Plus unlike the cheap trimmers, I won't be throwing it away and adding it into a landfill somewhere. It's an expensive upfront investment, but well worth it. I would absolutely recommend it. A bit of advice - like any quality trimmer I also recommend you clean and dry the blades after each use, and put a bit of light clipper oil on them. This will keep the blades sharp for a long time. I'm all nice and neatly groomed now. My dad bod hair has met its match! :-)

Just a hair shy of perfection
|Posted .PROs: - Very solidly built (with a warranty to match)--lots of metal and textured ribs on the front/side make the razor feel substantial and very comfortable in the hand--power button is placed perfectly for easy access but requires enough pressure that you won't accidentally power it off while in use - Perfectly sized/shaped for precision trimming needs - Great for multi-purpose travel grooming--hair, beard & body trimming plus ear/nose/eyebrow sculpting all in one compact unit - It's still new, but the battery seems to hold its charge more than a week at a time of regular usage before I even need to think about any top-off and it doesn't seem to get hot with extended (5-10 mins at a time) use - Storage case is big enough to finally throw out the shipping box - Vast array of combs & attachments but the adjustable beard guard (3-7 mm) is genius--now you don't have to lug at least 3 other guards around - Head interchange is relatively painless; cutting attachments pop off and click back into place securely - It's a blessedly quiet unit overall--easy on the ears when you're trimming around them! CONs: - It's a STORAGE pouch, not an organizer, for all those attachments--you have to dump out the contents behind the VERY tight elastic netting on the left side to find the one or two combs or attachments you need because they all look nearly alike - Given how svelte the shaver itself is, the protective pouch adds a LOT of bulk to accommodate all those attachments--while it's almost a do-it-all unit, if you only need a few attachments at a time anyway, the case will take up a lot of space in your luggage - The full-size and extra-wide hair trimmers don't necessarily cut very close to the skin--lots of peach fuzz left behind - They tell you this up front, but be aware that you can't use this unit while it's plugged in--the quick charge is nice to get you back on the road in a hurry--but if your battery dies, you're out of luck until it charges you get it replaced - Not designed to replace a shaver because the foil head is so narrow...the option for touch-ups is welcome, but you'll be hard-pressed to get your entire face shaved closely with just this "precision" unit and there are no other options available in all those attachments and trimmer heads :-( - Similarly, the 'extra-wide' hair trimmer really isn't really more than a few mm wider than the beard trimmer--it's great for touch-ups or maintenance, but this isn't a good match for someone wanting a regular, full-blown haircut (a dedicated hair trimmer/clipper like a Wahl, Oster, or even one of Philips clippers, will cut down acres more hair at a time) - Popping off the interchangeable heads revealed a lot of what looks like intricate but thinner plastic bits underneath--not sure how well those heads will hold up to lots of repeated change-outs over time (though again, 10 year warranty...); a latch or button catch/release might have been a better design choice Right up front, I'll say that this is simply a FANTASTIC unit for grooming and sculpting hair you already have but still want to keep some/most of around--if there were an option for an extra-wide foil head like there is for the hair trimmers so you could get a full-face shave in easily, this would pretty much be a home run. In the hand, it's probably one of the most comfortable shaver units I've ever held--ergonomics are top-notch, and who can argue with 10 years on the warranty clock? I would keep this just for the precision trimmer alone, but there are a number of very useful attachments, combs, and guides that make this unit a jack of [nearly] all trades. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED if you're looking for something versatile that appears to have the potential to last you many years of faithful service. A few design niggles include the color choices of the combs and guards. I get it--it's a "guys' groomer" so heaven forbid we get a white or yellow plastic guard for the trimmer head to help tell them apart; but did they have to make everything black, very dark grey, slightly less very dark grey, and very dark green? Behind the wholly black elastic mesh netting that holds in at least 19 different bits of darkly dyed plastic, they all look virtually identical so you simply can't easily tell which guide/attachment you need without struggling to sift through every piece after dumping most/all of them out of the case. The instructions do include a nice numbered infographic indicating what each attachment is/does, though strangely those numbers aren't on the attachments themselves so it takes a while to suss it out at unboxing, especially when there are two 3mm and two 5mm guards where the only difference appears to be the color (why include them at all...especially when the adjustable guard also covers 3 and 5mm sizes and appears to be the same width as all four?) Those MINOR usability issues aside, this is a wonderful grooming/sculpting tool, especially when space is at a premium and you're looking for a way to rid yourself of an errant bathroom hygiene gadget or two and consolidate into one, fairly premium-feeling unit.

Ordered new...received Used one!
||Posted .Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. My first bad experience with Best Buy online purchase! Received packaging with damage internally today (4/17)...checked attachments and found fingerprints on all of them...found tiny hairs on the trimmer blade!! How Best Buy can ship used and sell it as new...especially personal care product at the time of COVID!! I am giving 1 star due to poor service from Best Buy! I will be returning it for sure!

Q: QuestionWould this trimmer be appropriate for completing a buzz cut on an adult? Also, what is the width of the wide hair trimmer?
Asked by MattG.
- A:Answer Absolutely! That is actually what I bought it for and it does a FANTASTIC job! The width is 1" and while that does not sound very big it is plenty! I am able to use this to do my hair myself with very minimal difficulty. It has a nice grip that makes it easy to hold securely and while it is hefty in a quality sense it doesn't feel heavy and is easy to manipulate. Hope this helps!
