PROs: - Very solidly built (with a warranty to match)--lots of metal and textured ribs on the front/side make the razor feel substantial and very comfortable in the hand--power button is placed perfectly for easy access but requires enough pressure that you won't accidentally power it off while in use - Perfectly sized/shaped for precision trimming needs - Great for multi-purpose travel grooming--hair, beard & body trimming plus ear/nose/eyebrow sculpting all in one compact unit - It's still new, but the battery seems to hold its charge more than a week at a time of regular usage before I even need to think about any top-off and it doesn't seem to get hot with extended (5-10 mins at a time) use - Storage case is big enough to finally throw out the shipping box - Vast array of combs & attachments but the adjustable beard guard (3-7 mm) is genius--now you don't have to lug at least 3 other guards around - Head interchange is relatively painless; cutting attachments pop off and click back into place securely - It's a blessedly quiet unit overall--easy on the ears when you're trimming around them! CONs: - It's a STORAGE pouch, not an organizer, for all those attachments--you have to dump out the contents behind the VERY tight elastic netting on the left side to find the one or two combs or attachments you need because they all look nearly alike - Given how svelte the shaver itself is, the protective pouch adds a LOT of bulk to accommodate all those attachments--while it's almost a do-it-all unit, if you only need a few attachments at a time anyway, the case will take up a lot of space in your luggage - The full-size and extra-wide hair trimmers don't necessarily cut very close to the skin--lots of peach fuzz left behind - They tell you this up front, but be aware that you can't use this unit while it's plugged in--the quick charge is nice to get you back on the road in a hurry--but if your battery dies, you're out of luck until it charges you get it replaced - Not designed to replace a shaver because the foil head is so narrow...the option for touch-ups is welcome, but you'll be hard-pressed to get your entire face shaved closely with just this "precision" unit and there are no other options available in all those attachments and trimmer heads :-( - Similarly, the 'extra-wide' hair trimmer really isn't really more than a few mm wider than the beard trimmer--it's great for touch-ups or maintenance, but this isn't a good match for someone wanting a regular, full-blown haircut (a dedicated hair trimmer/clipper like a Wahl, Oster, or even one of Philips clippers, will cut down acres more hair at a time) - Popping off the interchangeable heads revealed a lot of what looks like intricate but thinner plastic bits underneath--not sure how well those heads will hold up to lots of repeated change-outs over time (though again, 10 year warranty...); a latch or button catch/release might have been a better design choice Right up front, I'll say that this is simply a FANTASTIC unit for grooming and sculpting hair you already have but still want to keep some/most of around--if there were an option for an extra-wide foil head like there is for the hair trimmers so you could get a full-face shave in easily, this would pretty much be a home run. In the hand, it's probably one of the most comfortable shaver units I've ever held--ergonomics are top-notch, and who can argue with 10 years on the warranty clock? I would keep this just for the precision trimmer alone, but there are a number of very useful attachments, combs, and guides that make this unit a jack of [nearly] all trades. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED if you're looking for something versatile that appears to have the potential to last you many years of faithful service. A few design niggles include the color choices of the combs and guards. I get it--it's a "guys' groomer" so heaven forbid we get a white or yellow plastic guard for the trimmer head to help tell them apart; but did they have to make everything black, very dark grey, slightly less very dark grey, and very dark green? Behind the wholly black elastic mesh netting that holds in at least 19 different bits of darkly dyed plastic, they all look virtually identical so you simply can't easily tell which guide/attachment you need without struggling to sift through every piece after dumping most/all of them out of the case. The instructions do include a nice numbered infographic indicating what each attachment is/does, though strangely those numbers aren't on the attachments themselves so it takes a while to suss it out at unboxing, especially when there are two 3mm and two 5mm guards where the only difference appears to be the color (why include them at all...especially when the adjustable guard also covers 3 and 5mm sizes and appears to be the same width as all four?) Those MINOR usability issues aside, this is a wonderful grooming/sculpting tool, especially when space is at a premium and you're looking for a way to rid yourself of an errant bathroom hygiene gadget or two and consolidate into one, fairly premium-feeling unit.

I've gone through more trimmers than I can remember. I keep buying these $10 'miracle' trimmers you see advertised on TV. They are usually good for a couple of weeks, then get dull and fall apart. The MG7770 is the first time I have a trimmer that is actually a quality piece of equipment! As a more-than middle age dad, I have hair growing all over my body but not on the top of my head! So grooming is important if I don't want to look like Sacha Baron Cohen in the movie "The Dictator"! Ha! Pro's: -Sturdy construction, water resistant and easy to hold. -Super super sharp! Be careful! Don't do what I did and think you can trim without an attachment. You will get cut! Trust me... I know! -20 attachments! Philips/Norelco thought this out and provided every type of trimming attachment anyone would ever need for everyday grooming. Attachments galore! -Quiet operation, lots of trimmers I've used buzz loudly - not this one! -10 year warranty! But you have to register online to get it. If you don't register the warranty will be 5 years (still impressive). -Quality travel case, nice construction, solid zipper, formed interior to keep things in place. -Long battery life! I have never had it run out of power. It claims a 6-hour battery life and I believe it. But I plug it in when I'm not using it. -Instructions are really helpful! Nice added touch that I didn't expect. Read the instructions before using this piece of equipment, it's worth your time! Cons: -The case could be designed better. Instead of tossing all the attachments into a meshed area, have an interior formed area where each attachment can 'click in', and be easily identified and removed. This would make reuse much easier. -The charge adapter is on the bottom of the trimmer. Why wouldn't it be on the backside so the trimmer could stand upright when being charged? I have to lie it down instead and that's a bit annoying. -The trimmer looks attractive with it's sleek body, but that's also a problem. In the shower it can be slippery. Why not make the body out of rubber, or some other material that is easier to hold onto when it's wet? -Not really a 'con', but - it's super sharp. If you aren't careful you can cut yourself. Always use an attachment! You've been warned! Overall I really like this trimmer, and look forward to using it for a very long time. Unlike the cheapo trimmers I've bought in the past, this one should hold up - which means in the long run it saves me money. Plus unlike the cheap trimmers, I won't be throwing it away and adding it into a landfill somewhere. It's an expensive upfront investment, but well worth it. I would absolutely recommend it. A bit of advice - like any quality trimmer I also recommend you clean and dry the blades after each use, and put a bit of light clipper oil on them. This will keep the blades sharp for a long time. I'm all nice and neatly groomed now. My dad bod hair has met its match! :-)

The Philips Mutligroom 9000 kit is the most complete grooming kit I have seen for home use. The kit comes with a vast number of combs and different cutting heads for different purposes. The heads include a precision blade, wide blade, medium width, nose, body, and even a shaving foil. All of these are packaged in a nice rubberized case to keep the kit together either in your cabinet or on the go. The combs come in a variety of sizes, all of which are clearly marked. There is even an adjustable one if you want to pack for travel and don’t want to take all of the parts with you. Some of the combs are for the wide head, and others are green and marked for body. The two body combs are the same depth as two of the face combs, but are a different color so you aren’t using the same one on your face as you may be using for other areas of the body. Cutting performance is excellent with the blades cutting through hair cleanly without any pulling or pinching. The stainless and rubberized body of the shaver is the perfect size and shape for me to have full control while shaving. They also resist clogging when cutting through dense hair. The variety of combs and shaving heads mean this one body can do everything you might need. Couple of quirks – the shaver body says it is a 7000 series, and so do the directions, but the kit is listed as a 9000. I would assume this is due to either a marketing change or a way to delineate that this is the ultimate kit with a huge number of blades and combs. The other thing I found odd was that the charging cord feels very stiff, almost like plastic. It’s not supple for flexible at all, and given the quality of the rest of the kit even down to the case, it feels oddly cheap. Hopefully it lasts and does not fail as the shaver will be useless without it. Overall, this is a complete kit for someone who is interested in shaving hair on the face, head, and body, and would be a great tool for someone who feels that in order to sell the house you have to trim the hedges.

Excellent beard and body hair trimmer

I’ve been using the Philips Norelco Multigroom 900 trimmer for about two weeks now, and all I can say is, where have you been all my life! I have been wearing a beard for about 30 years, and over that time I have bought and used several trimmers of various brands. All have been adequate, and I have always gone for the lower-cost models figuring that a trimmer is a trimmer is a trimmer, and all that the more expensive models give you is perhaps longer battery life and more features. But I assumed that the basic beard-trimming and such functions would be pretty much identical in effectiveness regardless of price level. I was wrong, and I wish had known this in 1987. I have put this trimmer through its paces, and I am impressed. It excels in three areas that the lower-cost trimmers can’t touch. First, its feel. It has a metal body instead of the usual plastic, it has a good heft, and it just feels better in your hand. Second, the preciseness of the resulting beard length depending on the fitting chosen is superb. I like a close shave leaving the beard short as it will grown in before I know it, and I’ve never wanted a big, bushy beard, so I do a trim usually every four to five days. This trimmer comes with more attachments than you can shake a stick at, which you would expect at this price level, and the one I prefer for the beard length I want works beautifully. Very quickly and with little effort, I get a good-looking beard trim. All of this goes along with the third area where this trimmer excels, which is in the closeness that can be achieved with the actual trimmer itself with no attachments. I like a clean line between the end of my beard on my neck and the bare skin below, so I want as close a shave as possible on the bare skin areas. No trimmer I’ve used until now did this all that well. The cutters on the lower-cost models are coarse, leaving hairs of various lengths and requiring you to go over the same area multiple times. This can irritate my skin if I do it too much. Not so with this Philips Norelco 9000. The trim is as close as any razor blade could give, and only one pass over the skin is required. It was such a pleasure to use this trimmer that I only wished I had more facial area to shave! As noted, at this price level, many attachments are included for every kind of shaving need (beard, nose-hair, mustache, eyebrows, body hair). It is also waterproof and can be used in the shower. It has a lithium-ion battery giving a long life between charges. It comes with a good-sized (to hold all those attachments!), solid-cover carrying/storage case. I gave the trimmer to my wife to use to shave her legs so I could get her comments on how well it performs in that regard, and she pronounced it as good as any shaver she has used. I can’t recommend this trimmer highly enough. You’ll spend a little money, but you will enjoy the experience more than you ever thought possible every time you need to do something to maintain your body hair.

I absolutely love this thing! It is now my portable grooming kit for travel. I can do touch up on my hair and beard anywhere with this cordless trimmer. It is built like a tank so I don't have to worry about it breaking. It comes with all the guards and trimmer heads you will need to get anything done on the go. Everything fits in a nice semi-hard shell case but it is a tight fit with all the accessories. Battery Life Battery life seems great. I think I can easily go a few weeks before having to charge it. I use it about 10 minutes each day. I let it run continuously and clicked it around 6 hours 15 minutes before it shutoff. More than enough to work with. Functionality This is so easy to use and functional. The case only has one or two things I'd change but otherwise no complaints. The accessories are held in place by a mesh compartment that is split so it can be a pain finding what you are looking for and getting it out. The foil shaver is a bit small but works great. There are so many accessories in the pack I'd probably never you them all. It's water resistant so you can trim in the shower. Head, body, face, nose, and ears are all handled by this one tool. Build This thing feels like it's built for a professional. It feels solid all the way around. It has an all stainless steel body with rubber grip and hard plastic guards. No worries about this breaking. This comfortably fits in your hand and you know you're holding quality. Aesthetics This looks beautiful. From the nice stainless steel body to the case, it looks classy and modern. It takes a minimalistic approach with a simple indicator light for battery life and a button for on and off. Anyone can use this. Verdict is EASILY A BUY This needs to be in every man's travel bag or even bathroom. Results are excellent and the blades are sharp. Go out and get one of these things as a gift for any man in your life. I see this as a great Father's Day, Christmas, or Birthday gift

This trimmer does more than just tame a beard that has been left to grow out, it comes with all of the attachments and tools you'll need for a full body groom! The face and beard trimming is clean and efficient with less noise than most other trimmers and an exceptional ability to neatly groom your facial hair into any style you'd like. The body, eyebrow, and head attachments work equally as well and offer the added flexibility of using one trimmer on your entire body instead of the usual 3... they can remain in the cabinet, drawer, or give them away as you will no longer need them! The trimmer has a nice, clean design and easily interchangeable heads/guards that offer simplicity over some of the lower models in the Philips trimmer line up. The carrying case is also a huge bonus as it carries absolutely everything this trimmer has to offer is a very organized and easy to manage fashion and protects the trimmer/tools from damage! (see images) Overall, I would highly recommend this for those who want the flexibility to cover all of their own grooming needs but also want something that looks great if left out on the counter!

I have been using Phillips trimmer for decades, I had one very basic, but with metal head trimmer which was my favorite all these years. It is not made any more, I have been surviving with another medium quality one all these years (again from Phillips), it works but is mostly plastic and the blade feel is not there. This Phillips 9000, or MG7770/49 as it is called on their website, feels and works same as my old metal one. It gives a good close trim. The size is just right, it has loads of attachment, and the travel bag is of good quality. Travel does feel stuffed with all the things inside, but I am not gonna need it except for travel, so it will serve its purpose. Its thick and will handle shock, so you can just drop it in your bag. Trimmer it self has a solid feeling to it, like its made to last. Battery is lasting me for past 10 days (a couple of trims), and I am yet to charge it. From my experience the first thing to go in few years will be battery (nothing wrong with this product in particular, its just difficult for battery to sustain such long life). There are too many attachments, I hardly ever use them, so I will not be commenting on them but if you use, it does come with nose/ear/another small (eyebrow?)/and different lengths. It says shower proof, and the box said IPX7, as as per wiki, that is up to 1 meter depth. The box said 110-240 so it should be good, where ever you go with the supplied charger, even though that feature has been there in all models. One last thing, I liked that the blade size is a tiny bit smaller now, it gives better movement. 5 star trimmer from Phillips.

Philips Norelco - Multigroom 9000 Trimmer with 13 Guide Combs - Black I am very impressed with this Philips trimmer. It really feels like quality as soon as you hold it. Sometimes you can just tell from that first impression. There is so much to like here and few gripes. There has got to be enough attachments included that you can easily use or try out to fit almost anyone's needs. Once you have changed the trimmer head it becomes very easy from then on to try all that’s included. The instructions for every kind of trimming is trying to fit a lot of information in a not so easy to read one page manual. But it does give you enough information that a follow up video search might be all you need take advantage of it other capabilities, like haircuts. I really like the trimmer now here is my one gripe. I think this trimmer should be using a type USB-C power supply. It does support a type of quick charging so USB might not have met the trimmers needs. Smart USB power supplies are available and it would have really been nice to have seen one included here. Every indication is that type USB-C will be the internal standard. Philips has been a leader setting standards on many products over the years and I would have really liked to see that here. Part of the features you get here is the large case it comes with. You can travel with all accessories and the power supply with how big the case is. And if you don’t travel much at least you can keep everything together. So it is all here in this one package. I think you should expect to get years of service out of this trimmer.
