Synopsis

Poseidon
Set adrift in the vast waters of the North Atlantic for a luxury New Year's Eve party staged in the ship's magnificent ballroom, the massive ocean-liner Poseidon receives an unexpected jolt when a rogue, 100-foot wave rolls it completely upside down, forcing the surviving passengers to fight their way to safety in Das Boot director Wolfgang Petersen's waterlogged blockbuster. Trapped beneath the waterline and implored by the captain to remain in place until a rescue team arrives, the panicked survivors struggle to keep their cool as the water begins to rush in, infernos blaze all around, and a loss of electricity plunges the doomed vessel into total darkness. Seasoned gambler Dylan Johns (Josh Lucas) isn't willing to wage his life on the prompt arrival of help, though, and as he attempts to navigate the treacherous, inverted maze of death, he is flanked by desperate band of like-minded seafarers including eight-year-old Conor (Jimmy Bennett) and his mother, Maggie (Jacinda Barrett), reticent stowaway Elena (Mía Maestro), suicidal Richard (Richard Dreyfus), and concerned father Robert (Kurt Russell), whose missing daughter may still be somewhere onboard along with her frightened fiancé. With a little luck and a little help from onboard waiter Marco (Freddy Rodriguez), the desperate team may just live to see the morning after. ~ Jason Buchanan, Rovi

I thought some of the dialogue in the beginning of this movie was really bad. It made me question why I bought this Blu Ray DVD in the first place. Lots of money was spent, but, to me, it just doesn't work. I don't think it did very well at the box office when it came out. And that should have told me everything I needed to know. On the plus side, the bonus videos on the making of this movie were very well done and quite informative.

Fantastic popcorn movie with plenty of non-stop action Poseidon has a powerful audio sound stage and at the 17th minute, when the rogue wave topples the ship over, an incredible sound field hammers the room with massive LFE making this scene amongst my highest rated impact scenes I have ever seen. The video is good too but not to the highest blu-ray standards. Nonetheless this is a fun movie to watch and to appreciate your home theater.

Its a great spectacle movie with lots of action but you have all these top name actors like Richard Dreyfuss, Andre Braugher, Emmy Rossum, Freddy Rodriquez, Kurt Russell and Josh Lucas that aren't given the chance to strut their stuff because the script is not written for character performance. However, this is a fantastic special effects film and if you've never been on a cruise then maybe you'll want to watch this after you get back from vacation.

I think have not seen a more thrill than this movie in my life, the devastation shown in this movie is ten times more than Titanic,i really have not better words to explain about this movie i saw that on movie theater on IMAX and used to have HD DVD of that but looking forward to get that on Blue-Ray, movie well worth of money, screen shots are amazing and extremely realistic, very very good movie that came out in years!!!!

If you don't expect much, you won't be disappointed... Like most of Hollywood's special-effect blockbusters, this one's entertaining to watch as everything descends into chaos. A healthy, sustained level of suspense throughout, depending upon one's level of engagement. Definitely worth plucking out of the bargain bin and adding to the collection for a late Saturday night view.

This movie was pretty good. The plot could have been developed more before the actual wave came. It did kind of seem a bit unlikely how all the main characters ended up getting out of the ship together, with a life boat right on the outside where they were...just a bit. Otherwise the visual effects were outstanding. There were some very graphic scenes as well that added to the story.

This wasn't the best disaster movie that's come out. I would have been better off renting it, but I didn't pay full price for it either. Man Kurt Russell is a great actor. He took a not so good movie and made it tolerable to watch.

it was not a great movie. it looked more like a average joe horror film. also it was sorta like the 1-man saves the day movie. also their was a little girl that pretty much every movie has. this movie i consider to be a spin off because it seems to be stitched together from other movies.
