    Pride & Prejudice
Jane Austen's perennially popular story of the game of love among the British upper classes returns to the screen in this polished film adaptation. The Bennets (Brenda Blethyn and Donald Sutherland) are the parents of five daughters near the close of the 18th century. Comfortable within their means but well short of rich, Mr. and Mrs. Bennet are looking for suitable husbands for their girls, and they are encouraged to learn that an eligible young bachelor from a wealthy family, Charles Bingley (Simon Woods), has moved into a nearby estate. Eager to see if a match can be made, the Bennets bring their daughters Elizabeth (Keira Knightley) and Jane (Rosamund Pike) to a ball thrown by their new neighbor to see if sparks will fly. Jane seems to like Charles, and he appears to feel the same, but Elizabeth takes an immediate dislike to Darcy (Matthew Macfadyen), Charles' egocentric best friend. While Elizabeth is infatuated with military man Lt. Wickham (Rupert Friend) and finds herself courted by William Collins (Tom Hollander), a well-meaning but drab man of the cloth, fate causes Elizabeth and Darcy to frequently cross paths, and while they don't care for one another, they can't stop thinking about each other, either. Pride & Prejudice also stars Jena Malone, Judi Dench, and Penelope Wilton. ~ Mark Deming, Rovi

      Great Movie!

This remake of "Pride & Prejudice" is a great movie. Before I didn't really give this movie much of a chance because in high school we were reading the book by Jane Austen and I found it boring. The only reason that I found it boring is because I didn't want to really pay attention at all to the book or movie for it being related to school. But I actually sat down and saw "Pride & Prejudice" on television and I have to say that I enjoyed the movie. The film has a great story and the cast was brilliant. It was also a plus for me that Keira Knightley was playing one of the roles. Director, Joe Wright does a fantastic job with this movie and I love the camera work/cinematography. Overall, I highly recommend this film to anyone. p.s. please release this in Blu-Ray! =)

      horrible interpretation

When i rented this move i thought this would be something i would enjoy. I mean pride and prejudice is my favorite book after all. But Kiera knightlys portrayal of the immortal character Elizabeth Bennett is appalling. The script is ridiculous not at all like the book. The speech is mediocre. It takes away from the Story Jane Austen has written. Kiera knightly looks constipated threw out the whole movie. And every time she talks to Mr. Darcy she seems like a deer in the headlights. If you want to see an excellent portrayel of all of Jane Austen's Pride and Prejudice characters rent the Pride and Prejudice with Jennifer Ehle and Colin Firth made in 2001. This adaption is fantastic. You will never watch the other one again. And i believe you will concur that the version with miss Knightly is rubbish.

      Favorite movie

I'm not a big fan of Jane Austen so I was hesitant to first watch this movie when it came on the tv. However, after the first viewing I was completely hooked. The pure dislike between Lizzie and Mr. Darcy, and the feeling of love for each other in the was just romantic. I thought the characters were played out very well by the actors. There were some humorous parts which I enjoyed. My two favorite parts were when Lizzie and Mr. Darcy were arguing in the rain and the end when they were both out in the field and Mr.Darcy once again expresses his love towards Lizzie. True romance.

      My Favorite Jane Austen Piece

Although Miss. Elizabeth Bennet's sisters are way TOO giddy and annoying in this film (they just overdo/oversell their young immature characters)...I am able to get past it because this is simply my favorite Jane Austen story! You will love it. The misunderstandings, passionate tension, the two main characters being too proud will keep you on the edge. It is a feeling that only the crazy world of LOVE and passion can create in you. Miss. Elizabeth & Mr.Darcy are drawn to one another in a strange way.... If you love romantic films you will love this classic take on Jane Austen's masterpiece!

I am a huge Jane Austen fan and love Pride and Prejudice above all! This movie was extremely rushed. I guess I'm just spoiled after Colin Firth as the perfect Mr. Darcy. I love Keira Knightly in other movies - but not as Elizabeth Bennett. Pride and Prejudice should be savored and enjoyed. This version was again rushed and if you happen to blink an eye - you would miss something. Simon Woods as Bingley was just plain ridiculous! I felt soo sorry for him. The casting was poor - you need the right person for each charactor. Thumbs down!

      Awesome Movie

This was a wonderful movie. Everything about it was great. I especially loved the costumes and holding to the original language. Some people that are not into "chick-flicks", should still check it out because it is a classic. It is a clean movie and even my young daughter liked it. It is definitely a movie for all ages, and is a nice break from the suspence, horror, and action movies that so many of us enjoy too. It has spurred me to pick up the book and check it out.

      Wonderful Movie

This is truely a classic to have in ones collection. The actors looked and truly acted as though it was the 18-19 century. Having read the book, this is a wonderful interpetation of Jane Austen's classic. The music cd that comes with the gift box is very beautiful, calming and relaxing. The booklet has some lovely pictures and has nice little tidbits. As for the extras on the DVD... Wonderful. Very informative. I highly recommend this movie!

      Elegant Film

This film is full of beautiful cinematography and splendid acting. It stays true to the majority of the plot and though they has to cut out a large portion of the novel, the meaning still rings through. Important features: Mr. Colins perfect, slimy, and full of Freudian slips. Watch for a three minute single shot scene during the dance at Neverfield and a perfectly times sunrise at the end of the film.
