Good choices for a 15-year-old: MacBook Air 13-inch (M4) — best balance of portability, performance, battery life, price. Great if the student carries the laptop between home / school / library. MacBook Air 13-inch (M2 or M3) — A budget friendly option that still handles typical student tasks well: word processing, note-taking, browsing, online classes. Good if you want to save money but still get a solid Mac experience. All are compatible with her iPhone 15 and can run Microsoft Word smoothly.

You can buy word for mac but its probably not nessassary, all the apple laptops come with a free word processor called pages that is fully compatible with word and has 99% of the features word has so she can move files from the mac and the schools windows computers without any issues and save 100 bucks.
