Yes, as with most laptops you simply need to change the power settings for what it does when you close the lid, and adjust the display settings for the external monitor/s you have. This computer only has one HDMI output and no other video outputs like a VGA serial port, display port, etc. So you will likely only have one monitor running off it but this is a touch screen laptop. Unless you use a touchscreen monitor, then you will lose that feature when you close the lid. If you are looking for one to use with the lid closed constantly I would pick a non touch screen unit instead of this one and probably save a little cash...
