I needed a laptop for my home based business to run CAD/CAM software ( large programs). This laptop has the speed and memory to run my programs that make my desktop run slow. I am completely happy with this laptop, it is very light and the touch screen is helpful. The display is great when working with projects I'm designing. I would buy this laptop again

I purchased 2 of these for the kids to use in high school. The first one powered up as expected, performed a few minor updates and was ready to go. The second one was physically different in that there were two stickers on the inside that were missing. Thinking nothing of it, we powered it up and went through the setup process. This second computer performed an OS upgrade and several other updates following. 12 hours of updates before the computer could be used! Once it finished, the computer was noticeably sluggish and repeated locked up. We wiped this computer and exchanged it as it seemed to be a hard-disk issue since it was constantly running at 100% utilization. The new computer was also missing the stickers (strange), and took 12 hours to update, again! Once completed, it had the same issue. Both of the computers are on their way back to the store.

It wasn't the biggest baddest laptop but it had what I needed and works great. Especially needed disc player and SD card slot and 3 USB ports.

Nice computer for light to medium duty. A little bit slow at the start, but fair for the rest. Can handle more than a task with no hesitation.

Very disappointed with this laptop purchase. I spent 2-3 weeks looking for a laptop. My prior all-in-one HP was a nightmare. I had as much in repairs as the cost. This new product is looking the same way along with the difference with Windows 10 is awful! Never again with the HP.

I bvought this computer after 3 horrible experiences with Dell computers. Do nit buy Dell under any circumstances no matter what dirt cheap price they might offer. This HP is a touch screen (must have for me) and has the speed, memory, and storage for anyone who is an average user like me. I do emails, and occassional video game, and use word and it's perfect. I will never buy an AMD 12 processor ever again as Intel I5 is far superior speed wise etc.

This laptop is fast, has lots of storage, and does everything I need it to do. I'm not a gamer so I don't need zippy speed or crazy good graphics, nor do I need tons of specialized programs and storage. I have a lot of pictures and music and it does great with that. And browsing is fast enough. It's a great laptop for average people. I'd recommend it to anyone who just needs a good quality computer that's fast and easy to use.

Bought this laptop for my daughter. She absolutely loves it. Great speed and storage. Easy to use and lightweight. Great for college student. Battery life could be improved a bit, but hey watching Netflix does that right?!?!?! Perfect laptop for college students.

This is my first HP laptop, I have had it for a month now and the experience has been enjoyable. The specs are really good, the computer is snappy and runs perfectly with windows 10. The touchscreen is very responsive, and the screen quality is good for a HD display. The screen can also get really bright, which might be useful for someone who needs to use it outdoors.
The keyboard is great. It is comfortable to type on it, with useful shortcuts and it does not present any noticable flex. The only little thing I think they could have included was a light to indicate that the numlock is on. In the order hand, there is a light to indicate when the volume is on mute, which I think is neat.
The laptop feels lighter than you would expect for its size. The laptop looks very professional in person.
The computer starts relatively fast. The Hard drive makes a little bit of noise (during regular use), but it is not loud and it does not bother me or interferes in my work.
I have been using this laptop mostly for school , running MATLAB scripts, using Simulink, and writing reports. It also fits my media consumption needs.
To sum up, excellent laptop. I definitely recommend it as an affordable laptop with great performance for work, school and entertainment.

First choice for a starving student

Let me start off by saying I have the kind of budget that made the workers at Best Buy cringe. I'm getting ready to head off to college, living a minimum wage job so I figured I wouldn't be able to get more than a Chromebook's performance value.
The computers I experienced in the past have been extremely slow so my standards aren't that high. I've had this computer for almost two months and it's the best decision I have ever made. I am able to use photo/video editing software with no problem, run graphics-intensive games (like Star Trek Online, Sims, and Slime Rancher) at high levels, and keep several tabs open with no hint of slowing down. A lot of reviews said there was a problem with bloatware slowing the computer down, but I haven't experienced that in the slightest.
There are two USB ports so I can use my wireless mouse and my art tablet at the same time, and there's a DVD slot so I can watch my Star Trek DVD set. Also, a pretty good sound quality (not the best), a headphone port, and a webcam.
The only cons I can think of are that the computer is kinda big and has a rather short battery life, however, it will fit in most backpacks so transportation shouldn't be an issue. That battery life is the only downside for someone who won't have access to a power outlet during the day. Also, the keyboard is not backlit and I have to compensate by turning up the brightness to see the keys in the dark but it's not a deal-breaker.
Otherwise, this computer has done everything I've ever asked it to do. If you, like me, do photo/video editing, digital artwork, gaming, and keep tons of tabs open with YouTube or P!nk playing in the background, this is the perfect budget computer for you. If you're used to Macs and Microsoft Surface Pro then you will probably be disappointed, but I highly recommend this to a starving student.

Purchased for my son to use in high school after his prior laptop died prematurely after only a couple of years. So far the laptop meets all his needs for school and his occasional online gaming as well as surfing the internet and streaming videos. My son has had no problems with the laptop and the only problem I had was getting familiar with Windows 10 so that I could help him load up software and removing unnecessary bloat.

This replaced a 2008 HP desktop running Windows Vista, so of course feels like I have traveled at time warp speed from the past. Completely carries all the files from the old computer with tons of storage left. Operates efficiently and allows all the peripherals--monitor, mouse, keyboard, etc., at the desk plus fits in my existing laptop bag when I travel. Touch screen feature is nice. Great value for the price.

I bought this laptop for my son's birthday a couple of years ago and it's been a solid computer for him. He plays a lot of online games on it. Although it's a little slower for some games as it has an Intel Core i5 processor. I bought him an extra 8GB of memory for Christmas and put it in myself. There is an extra slot for this. It has 1TB of hard drive space. It also has a touch screen but he has a nice curved monitor and mouse and keyboard so he just uses this laptop as a desktop computer now. He spends a lot of time on it and it has held up well. Came with Windows 10 installed.
