I listened carefully in store to both systems, using cd I brought from home. For the money ($110.00) difference, I couldn't tell much difference in sound. Sony does have features the Insignia lacks (clock, timer, am radio), but with this small of a system, it is what it is: a bedroom stereo that has decent but not outstanding sound from either machine. I say save the 110 bucks and go with insignia. It's what I did and I'm pleased. Wait for it to go on sale for 89 bucks.
