We Have Two of These - LOVE THEM!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. We have one of these systems in our Den which sounds awesome, it's about 3 years old, still kicking no issues...I already know I love it but, ya still gotta check out the competition when purchasing anything new. The compact shelf system in our kitchen "kinda" died (not this brand) and after looking at the higher-priced Sony model I mean, we spend a lot of time hanging out in the Kitchen around the island so I wanted it to look nice and sound great. After reading the reviews we decided on this system again. It is awesome and the price, the quality, it's a no-brainer...we love it, looks great, sounds great, blends in and is ALWAYS on, day and night...at night we lower the volume to about 2-3. Can't beat it for the price and the quality!

Great compact stereo
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I really like the sound quality and ease of use. Fits nicely in smaller places. Bluetooth works great up to about 40 feet. Great buy, I will definitely get another if they come up on the deal of the day again.

Good for playing CDs, Not mp3s flash drives.
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is a decent sound system for the price. It's quite small and looks nice, so it sits nicely on a shelf. Set-up was quick and easy. I did have to return mine because it didn't quite fit my needs though (see below). I'm not a music expert so I'll try to describe the sound in layman's terms. The sound is surprisingly good for such small speakers. But the higher end is a bit distant and metallic. So the bass sounds good but the vocals could be more up close. Why does EVERY sound system out there sacrifice everything to the almighty bass? You can turn up the top and tone down the bass but it doesn't really make the top sharper. Overall it's really not bad. There are several settings for different kinds of music, but they are all totally awful, just leave the setting on normal and it's fine. Still, for the price, the speakers are good and do fill up a bedroom or a small to average living room quite well. I found them definitely loud enough for 95% of CDs. Some early CDs were way too compressed and will not sound right or loud enough on any system. I thought this system might provide an elegant solution with its flash drive port but... I have over 900 CDs and ripped everything at 320 kbps, amounting to about 105g. Obviously no phone can hold all that, and only the ipod classic can store that, although I dodge the ridiculously over-hyped and over-priced Apple like a plague. I don't want to bother with putting some things on a phone and having to unplug and swap that for another device or inserting CDs, and repeat. What options do people with a lot of music have these days? What I wanted to do was get a 128g flash drive and plug it into this system, which has a port right in front, and be able to quickly access all my music at once without importing to an app or anything in between. Which leads me to the one big flaw with this system: Yes it plays off flash drives, BUT, it doesn't recognize your folder structure: so for example if you put 10 albums on it, each with 9 songs, it sees tracks 1-90. And it ONLY displays the current track. So if you want to play track 8 from album 6, you just have to skip forward until you reach it. You can enter track "65" on the remote control, but again you can't SEE any track titles until they are playing. So you can imagine having 900+ CDs on a flash drive would be completely ridiculous. I realize that this port is for phones or mp3 players with their own displays and touch screens, but again they don't hold enough and I don't want an ipod or iphone. I can also plug in my laptop to the headphone port, but I don't want to have to turn on a laptop to listen to a speaker system, and it sounds much worse that way. Also it does not recognize external drives, but it does recognize flash drives. I would give this 4.5 stars if I could, subtracting one half for speakers that are decent but not quite excellent, but the big oversight of not having a searchable display makes me knock it down a bit further to a 4. So in summary, if you want just a CD player this is good (and it DOES play mp3 discs.) If you have a small amount of music on your phone or mp3 player and you want to plug it in here and control it from your other device this is also good. If you want to make any sense of your own stored music and folder structure that you've ripped and saved yourself this will not work. I don't know what people are doing these days to simply play a lot of music off one source.

Decent for the price
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. It's ok, for the price. A little surprised that it doesn't have AM. I thought it did because if you look at the specs for this unit on the Best Buy site it says FM 30 presets and right under it it says AM 30 presets. I will admit a few lines down it does say FM only which I didn't see when I was looking at the specs... But.. It's not a deal breaker but I don't see with the blue tooth and aux input and usb input that they couldn't just throw AM in the mix as well. Bad quality control somewhere. They must have copied and pasted the specs from another model. But, again, it's very good for the price. Would still buy it even without the AM.

It's what I was looking for
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this for my kitchen, to have better sound quality than one of those little portable speakers. Plus I wanted the option to play a cd and listen to the radio. To me, the sound quality is very good. I would describe it as sounding "warm." High notes sound clear and the bass is good for its size. There are different settings to adjust the tone, bass, etc., but it sounded good right out of the box to me. If you're realistic I think you'll be more than satisfied with the sound. Though my kitchen is a small room, It seems to go pretty loud as well. I also like its small size as its smaller than most other similar systems out there for sale. I love the bluetooth option, though the sound cuts in and out at times. I'm not sure why this happens. If I keep my phone still the problem goes away. It would have been nice to have AM in addition to FM - there are people out there who still listen to AM :-) Overall I am happy with my purchase as I like the features, sound, size, looks and price of the system ( I bought it on sale). I would definitely recommend this to anyone out there looking for a compact stereo for a smaller room.

Solid Value
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I purchased this stereo for use in my garage to replace a 20+ year old boom box. It is a great little unit for the price, packed with features, and I believe it to be a solid value. After using it for about a month, I have found a couple of minor things to nit-pick, but I do not find these big enough issues to dissuade the purchase of this unit. 1. I wish it was a bit louder since the garage is a pretty large space to project into. 2. I have it on a shelf that does get a lot of direct natural light, and it becomes really hard to see the digital display. It would be nice if it had a variable display that allowed dimming and brightening as needed. All-in-all I am pleased with the performance of this system and would definitely recommend it.

Simple System, Simple Price...
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I wanted a little "all-in-one" system for my den that would let me to listen to the radio, play a CD or use Bluetooth - that didn't look like the old "ghetto blaster". I love this little system - and for $99 am tickled. I listened to others in the store that were $200 - $300 more - and I have no regrets over this purchase. It doesn't have a lot of bells and whistles but it gets the job done and I use it every day. Speakers are pretty darn good, too. I say that because I also recently bought a major brand 5:1 system (surround sound) for my living room and these little bookshelf speakers could be integrated with that no problem. In terms of looks, it doesn't command a lot of attention but that's what I wanted; very simple black system. Most of the functionality is handled by a remote, even tuning the radio. If I could tweak anything - I would add a manual tuner as an option for the user. That is the only reason I am not giving it a full 5 stars. If I could, I would add a half star back for a deserving 4.5.

Considering the price you couldn't ask for more
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Well actually you could. The headphone jack really should be on the front panel but that's about the only flaw I see and I've been using the system for a while now. Sounds good, works flawlessly. Looks nice, simple and elegant. I don't understand why the specifications state that MP3 players are not connectable considering that the manual suggests that one possible use for the AUX jacks on the back is to connect an MP3 player. You just need an adapter, minni-phono to audio jacks. And, it doesn't help that someone posted an image of the MP3 player non compatibility stats. Oh, and it might be more useful and convenient if the AUX input was on the front panel in the form of a minni-phono jack. But neither this nor the headphone jack placement should be deal breakers. They little affect me and I suspect would be of concern to very few others. In the end, it's a lovely unit that I expect I will get many years of enjoyment from.

Q: Questiondoes this unit play music from a usb flash drive, and how many cd,s does it hold
Asked by Anonymous.
- A:Answer Yes you can play "compatible" usb drives through this unit. You can also record onto a usb drive, erase the usb drive, format the usb drive. I record from the cd, radio, Bluetooth, and a turntable that I have connected through the RCA inputs. The unit has room for 1 cd at a time. But you could hook up an external cd unit as long as it meets the RCA specifications of the stereo. The manual for my "CM4530" stereo states the following specs: Aux In: 2.0 Vrms (1 kHz, 0 dB), 75 Ohm, RCA jack (L,R) x 1

Q: Questioncan I play music directly from my iphone with this unit ?

- A:Answer You can via Bluetooth. The USB input on the unit is designed for thumb drives only. It will report a USB error followed by "No USB" on the display if you plug your iPhone/iPod into the USB port. Hope this helps! Cheers, C

Q: QuestionI am looking for a system to connect a turntable. I need a Aux connection for 2 plugs. What kind of aux connection does the Insignia have?
Asked by Anonymous.
- A:Answer You can connect a turntable through the AUX input but you will most likely need to run it through a turntable preamp first, otherwise the input level will be too low. They start at around $20 and are available online and at many audio retailers. They are also referred to as a "phono preamp." They are usually a little powered box about the size of a deck of cards. Basically you plug the turntable into the phono preamp and the output of that into the AUX input.

Q: QuestionHow is it powered?Does it come with an AC adapter? Does it run on batteries?
Asked by TomCat4680.
- A:Answer It does not run on batteries. It has a standard AC cord hardwired to the CD Player/receiver/amplifier.

Q: QuestionHow to use MP3 players with this system?I was able to use bluetooth to sync my Ipod but for night time the bright blue light is rather annoying. The user guide says you can connect an MP3 player through AUX In jack. How do you do that? The provided cable has left and right plugs on it.
Asked by Anonymous.
- A:Answer You would need a 3.5mm stereo plug to Red/White RCA plug adapter cable. The Red/White end connect to the Aux in on the stereo, the 3.5mm stereo end plugs into the earphone jack on your MP3 player.

Q: QuestionDoes the "random" feature work when playing music from a USB memory stick via the USB port?
Asked by Anonymous.
- A:Answer No, random only works with standard CDs. It does not work with USB drives or .MP3 CDs. Major flaw in my opinion.
