“My Jeep 2016 patriot does not have WiFi. Is WiFi necessary for CarPlay to work? I had the unit installed at bestbuy and car play is not automatically happening when I hit the mic button like in all tutorials. I am connected via Bluetooth.”

• You need to connect to the receiver’s usb with your lightening cord. I am pretty sure Car Play won’t work with Bluetooth.

• Your iPhone has to be connected to the usb cable in order for CarPlay to work. It will use SMALL amounts of cell phone “data” for the CarPlay apps like navigation. I have my navigation on all the time and it only used 300mb in 30days using Waze app for Nav.
