  • QuestionJust purchased this range. To use a cooktop "burner", a random pad on the touchpad must be pressed. Clock brightness increases and the burners operate. It is not documented in the manual. Is this proper operation or is there a problem?

    Asked by Anonymous.

    • Answer Thanks Regina. Let us know what your service person says. I called GE and got different answers from two different people on the GE help line. One is that the operation is correct and is due to regulations about energy saving. The time dims after about a minute and shuts down the entire system unless something is active. Then to bring everything active again a pad needs to be pressed. The second answer is that the burners should not require this action and I need a service call. I hope we can get an official written GE system design/engineering response on this. I also talked with different folks in the Best Buy Pacific Appliances stores - two different stores and got similar responses. There is no consensus. What is the truth?

  • QuestionThis range came with a Café Cast Iron Griddle but I cannot figure out how to use it. When I set it on the range using sync burn, they auto-shut off. Can someone let me know how I can get this detected by the range?

    Asked by JustPurchased.

    • Answer Hi JustPurchased- Thanks for your purchase! Please check the model number. This model number does not come with a griddle. However, most griddles (that meet the cookware guidelines listed in the manual) can be used on the left burners when synchronized. Here are possible causes for these elements to shut off: 1) The cookware needs to be magnetic and flat. Use a magnet to check if the bottom of the griddle is magnetic and a ruler to see if it is flat. 2) If the element stays idle too long or does not detect the cookware for at least 30 seconds the elements will turn off. Try placing the griddle on the burners with food and then try to sync the burners. To sync the burners, set the far left knob to “sync burners” and use the knob next to it to adjust the temperature. If the above does not work, there may be an internal issue and we recommend service.
