“Can it be set to true 1080P; and or how good is the 1080p pictures on it? do not have any 4k / 2180 sources nor do I expect to have any in the future, future. 2160P requiring it to use 4 pixels for each 1080p pixel distorting the picture.”

The television will display whatever resolution is provided to it however there is not a way to change the display to only display 1080P.
