“Can you have surround in 1 room, and a still have speakers in another? I'm curious to how this 7.1 breaks up. I'm interested in suround in 1 room (actually prefer 5.1 because of how room is set up), and a set of speakers in another room or outside. How would this work?”

From the available information, all of the speakers are designed to work in concert with each other and should not be broken up into different rooms since each speaker only gets a portion of the sound. -MrSamsung
