• The touchpad is located on the keyboard, whereas a touchscreen allows you to touch the display to select applications, etc.

• "Touchpad" is another term for the trackpad/mouse pad built into many laptops' keyboards. It can be used in conjunction with or as a replacement to touchscreen support.
