Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.For those kind of requirements I would use SLI. Of course it helps to know which games you are running at high settings. If you run Total War Warhammer or other new titles then SLI at 4k is needed, but if you are running Counter strike/team fortress then 1 card will suffice. I run this monitor with SLI 980 Ti's running at 1.5ghz each and have no issues with fps dropping below 40 for higher intensity game like Star Citizen(does not like SLI though) or TW Warhammer. Both your 1080 and the 980 Ti are fairly close in power but with DX12 and the future unknown of SLI I would recommend a single Pascal Titan since you seem to have the budget for SLI 1080's.
