Google Sheets runs Excel and allows you to program / edit / share just like Excel, but it's free and you don't have to buy annual licenses like you do with Microsoft Office. From any computer (Mac, Windows, etc) go to Google Drive and click the + button. From there you can try Google Docs (Word) , Sheets (Excel), or Slides (Powerpoint) for free and evaluate. Allows you to save in a format that is Excel compatible so you can share with friends that still use Microsoft Office.
