It really depends on the wiring in your home and the distance between the sending and receiving unit. You won't know for sure until you plug them in and try. DO NOT expect anything close to the rated speed even under the best circumstances. That is fiction. Less than 100MBS is typical and it maybe a good deal less. That being said, it is likely to be faster, more reliable and less prone to dropouts than wifi. When they work, they work well. My only caveat is this company has some quality control issues. There have been reports of these things dying within a few weeks or months for no apparent reason. I had one set that were rock solid for years. When one died, I bought replacements that died within a few weeks.

This will be enough for the VOIP and anything that you can throw thru your desktop machine. You just need to be sure to use the same circuit for both ends of the extension via the adapters (you need two), which is very common in a household. Also, do not connect them to a power strip of any kind. They need to connect directly to the power outlet at the wall.
