“I have connected one device downstairs and one device upstairs and the power light is coming on, but not the coax light. I have tested to make sure they work and when I connect them to each other the coax lights up, but not when I move them apart.”

Have you checked if the coax in the wall connected it could be damaged. or it could also be a very long run check if there is continuity in the line. Also be sure you have the right cable in the basement the device works best in a single isolated cable to the room from the mains not from Coax outlet to coax outlet.

All splitters, boosters, M-M plugs, wall plates, etc must be rated for at least 2.2 Ghz or 2200 Mhz or higher. (1 Ghz = 1000 Mhz) This device operates up to 2150 Mhz according to the manual and the splitter in the box is rated for 2500 Mhz. You likely have a splitter hiding somewhere that is rated for 1000 Mhz or 1500 Mhz since those are very common. Check where your coax lines come together and behind wall plates in the rooms you are using.
