“Comcast coaxial tv cable comes through wall from outside. A splitter with 1 cable goes to tv works fine. Want other cable to connect to desktop as hardwired ethernet for internet. Is this doable? Thank you”

I cannot speak for Comcast; however, I have Verizon FIOS and am operating exactly as you intend to. Split the signal with one coax to an HDTV; the other goes into my Actiontec MOCA box - where there is an Ethernet port that I hookup to my computer.
