“Setting this up in a classroom environment. Connecting it to a projector to mirror from Windows laptop. It cannot be connected to the school wifi. Need to know if the connection is secured in someway, preventing unauthorized party from connecting.”

As far as I could tell, there wasn't really a way to secure the connection. If someone was just walking by the house and decided to look for a direct wi-fi connection, it seems that they'd be able to do so. That being said, the Roku offers the same functionality of this device plus all the other Roku features. I also think that Roku has a level of security as well for associating your device with it. I wouldn't have even purchased this device had I realized at the time that a Roku can do what it does.
