When you buy the CD you'll get a activation number then you can download the program from Adobe and you'll have it both on your computer and an CD

( I used the DVD for PC). The package comes with a card with a Redemption Code that you use to get the serial number. You must visit www.adobe.com/go/getserial and create/sign in with an Adobe ID. Record the serial number that is given to you. Next, it gives you the option to download and install the software. Select download for Mac. Enter the serial number when prompted during installation. It should install the software and any updates that are available.
