“The audio randomly drops out while still connected. Google Maps continues to display properly and the music is still “playing”, the audio just drops out. How do I make the audio more stable and consistent? This is very frustrating. About to return item.”

You can try to reset the unit and also try to disconnect your connection and pair to the device again. There is a chance the hand-shake connection made by the adapter and phone is not strong or using different Bluetooth profiles. If the problem persists then take it back before it's too late.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I would suggest trying to tighten up your usb connection either with a piece of electrical tape or some other means because that is more than likely the issue...loose usb port connection.
