A:AnswerI purchased a show for my father in a nursing home. With Covid 19 his nursing home has a no visitor policy during the pandemic. I now can drop in and FaceTime him without having to call the front desk. He is a stroke patient and can’t move his right side at all. He doesn’t have to answer verbally or touch anything with a drop in. I’m very grateful for the echo show!
A:AnswerIt comes with everything needed for video chat/calls. Built-in camera, microphone, speaker, and screen. It has free video and audio calls between Echo devices and the Alexa mobile app. So you could get another Echo Show (or the Alexa app on your phone) and call her for free.
A:AnswerEcho Show 8 connects to Alexa to give you rich stereo sound with vivid visuals on an 8" HD screen. Set alarms and timers, display your favorite photos, check weather and traffic as you head out, or catch up on news highlights and movie trailers. Connect with your favorite people by making hands-free video calls to the Alexa app or another Echo with a screen, use Announcements to send voice messages to every room with a supported Echo device, or use Drop In as a two-way intercom between rooms.
A:AnswerYou can display photos from your Amazon photos but there are drawbacks. There is always other things on the screen no matter how you have the setting adjusted. It is not a true digital picture frame.
A:AnswerYes, my son just started talking to it and it learned his voice automatically. Then when I bought the echo dot for his room and we registered it for him it just automatically added him. So easy
A:AnswerHello Sharon, Echo Show 8 uses WiFi to function, but you would need to download the Alexa app to a mobile device for registration and customization purposes. You can also use a tablet that has access to the Amazon, Google Play, or Apple app store to download the Alexa app.
A:AnswerI have both and I think its just the screen size. I just use mine to play music, videos, and play games....others may have a more advanced knowledge with the device but thats the only difference that I have noticed.
A:AnswerI have tried and can't seem to add the date to the home screen. Also, I can't seem to find anything to change the clock format. I think those features are on the Show 5 and didn't make it to the 8.
A:AnswerHi DJ,
For Ring doorbells, you can set it so that when someone presses the doorbell button, the Echo Show devices will ring and announce to the selected sound you pick, as well as show you the doorbell. You can also set the doorbell and regular cameras to give you motion announcements. For Blink, you can ask the Echo Show to show you the cameras by name, but they do not give you the option to tell you motion announcements or show you a camera feed upon motion. You can do all of this by going into the Alexa app (after you have installed cameras and gotten the skill for those devices and linked your accounts) and go to "devices" and "cameras" and then choose the camera and hit settings in the top right corner, that will give you all of the options for that specific devices. Hope this information helps. Have a great day.
