In order to record live TV (and not use a subscription-based app like Hulu Live or YouTube TV), you will need to also purchase a FireTV Recast. The Recast is a standalone DVR for your home antenna. This box is a one-time purchase and you simply need a good antenna (and signal) and a WiFi network. Once that's in place, all live channels & recordings are accessed through the FireTV Cube's interface. That said, you can also use any of the FireTV Stick models to access all recordings from the Recast DVR.

The Amazon Fire TV Cube does not have the DVR capabilities, however some live streaming apps have DVR features available which will work on the Fire TV Cube. Hope this has answered your question. Have an amazing day!
