- Answer It means that the remote will not work on the TV. It only controls the Fire TV. So you need to have your own remote that works the TV.

- Answer I believe you need internet access in order for your phone to speak to the unit otherwise there is no way for the phone to send the info . This device just gives your tv a connection to internet so without internet there is no use for this device
