A processor and CPU (central processing unit) are the same thing in desktop PCs. If you are a beginner, I recommend watching some youtube videos on the basics of building custom PCs and the different parts needed. pcpartpicker.com is also a good place to find pre made parts lists, but I still recommend you watch some videos.
