“Was told by a colleague that this cord would improve my connectivity and speed of charging my devices. Is this possible? Also, does it just replace an existing line, attaching to my device or what? Any help you can provide will be greatly appreciated.”

most definitely the inside wiring is superior to the ones that come with the phone and can take advantage of the faster chargers available 45w/65w/100w
