I live about 10 miles from some towers, and I am still able to receive them.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.YES, OUR TOWERS ARE 31 MILES FROM US AND WE HAVE THIS UNIT ON A TABLE. THE HIGHER YOU MOUNT IT, THE BETTER RECEPTION, BUT IT WILL WORK IN THE TREES.

Based on the type of frequency they put out and obstruction will cause a signal loss. The only real options are to try and move the antenna in different directions and locations in the room or get an outdoors antenna. Its ugly but it will pick up signals much better. I have tried two different indoors antennas (each about $100) and neither of them work perfectly. That is the biggest problem of broadcasting with digital is that you either get the signal or you don't. I would also suggest Hulu. its about $10/month and you get an unlimited server side DVR. There are just some channels you don't get.

As pretty as the trees are, you can't live in them to get those things. My aunt lived north of Oscoda and she had rabbit ears until cable came along. The best thing would have been to place your house IN the trees but ORIENTED so your LOS is open to the south and the trees won't grow into that LOS. Your other option would be to clear some of those trees but if they are Jack Pines, good luck!
